Pipeline Vandalism: Delta State loses 2.6BN to Militants’ attacks


A whopping sum of N2.6billion in revenue is reportedly said to have been lost to militants attacks in the last few weeks in Delta State.

Executive Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development commission (DESOPADEC), Victor Wood yesterday confirmed to journalists in Asaba, that the state was losing so much revenue to militants attacks, adding that the whopping N2.6billion was a rough estimate of the damage carried out by the militants.

While appealing to the restive youths to put an end to the destruction of pipeline installations and facilities, Wood expressed worries that the way oil installations were being vandalized in the state, was an alarming sabotage.

He noted that as long as the economic erring was unfavourable for investors, there was no way multinational oil companies would establish oil companies in the state.
