Monsurat Sumonu? I am disappointed.
These Senators have no business in the polity, except maybe as financial backers. The first class brains should rule like we had in the first republic.

Those are the ones i call 'yes master leaders' becos they always say yes to what others are saying with No contributions of their own. But is there any need of their collecting salary for doing nothing? Buhari and the law should take take note. Nigeria need their salaries for hospitals, schools and borehole project.

Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Senator from Aba has been too vocal in this 8th republic. He has been championing the buy Aba Shoes and Clothes and other contributions.

David Mark is planning ahead on how to take over from Saraki should the later be sacked by the CCT.

I am not surprise because the above senators has nothing to offer to Nigerians except embezzlement of public funds. so why should we expect them to gives us what they don't have?

Re: 51% Of Senators Are Bench Warmers: Businessday by anonimi: 10:07pm On Jun 05, 2016
This is possible because 90% of their fellow citizens whom they REPRESENT and who VOTED them in are also bench warmers.
QED.
Otherwise, how do we pay them so much for doing NOTHING for us?
How many laws have they made for our benefit?

The common sense senator Ben Bruce remains the best. He is a revolutionist, A trail blazer, both in and out of the chamber, he's presence is felt. He brings national issues to the conscience of Nigerians. Ever making common and uncommon sense. Those who hate him, hate to hate him, but for the sake of party affiliations, they use wrong words on him.

Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for Mr Ben common sense Bruce.

%51 is a small number. I was tinkin %85 should be bench warmers cos some of dem are passing bills not relevant to d current situation of the country, which made dem uselss to Nigerians. It high time nigerians started tinking of a way of scrambing the senate assembly. We cant be paying senators who re wasteful.

I was thinking that bench warmers should be those who haven't made noticeable contributions all round and not only on sponsoring a bill or bills.
If we hv to think that sponsoring a bill justified a lawmaker's election then we should be expecting 360 + 109 bills that's ignoring cosponsorship of bills per year according to this report. It's possible that before their tenure expire they wouldve sponsored one. Reporters should be more circumspect in their reports.

Shameless Senators! The time they should use to sponsor bills has been used to follow Saraki to CCT!! I look forward to the day Nigerian masses will truly wake up, occupy the national assembly and chase away the ineffectual buffoons parading themselves as Senators!!! I hate our brand of democracy; it is highly expensive with little or no returns to Nigerians

You are smart.

With this kind of media attack, you'd see proliferation of bills that even the whole idea is defeated..

Re: 51% Of Senators Are Bench Warmers: Businessday by bellyjean(m): 12:32am On Jun 06, 2016
We Nigerians must revise the part of the constitution that talks about the national assembly; senate and house of reps.

Apart from the obvious fact that Nigeria today is okay with just only one of the chambers, I don't see any justification for the overcrowding we have in either chamber (109 and 360).

Secondly, I'd love to get more enlightened on the purpose of the senators, how expedient it is for senators to sponsor bills. I am asking this because all I can grasp is that we elect and pay these bunch of crooks to come up with some bills and sponsor them. (I am not sure if the House of reps members sponsor bills too or it is the sole responsibility of Senate members).

I watch senate and house plenary sessions and I weep for nigeria. In my own opinion, I think nigeria has to take some austere measures at this time in our history. We don't have to copy verbatim what operates in other countries, we can write, modify and redefine our constitution. I'd suggest that these guys should not be employed full time (if we still need their numbers; 109 + 360). Rather, they should go about their normal businesses and convene whenever we have pressing matter to attend to (e.g budget approval and passing, sensible and important bills etc)

The unnecessary congestion up there is too expensive for us as a nation. The decisions they have made for Nigeria in 16years plus is not more than what fathers and mothers make in their homes.

Have they made us better in 17 years now?

When I see Nigerians complaining about the same thieves they either voted for or helped rigged election in exchange for bags of rice and tomatoes, it pisses me off!

Every Nigerian is guilty of the mess we have today as a country! What we have at the NASS are thieves!

Nobody here is asking to find out what are in the 291 bills. These thieves only create bills that provide more opportunities for looting, not to benefit Nigerians!

Nigerians should shut up and bury their heads in the sand in shame, if they're not ready to take action in changing the country for good. Change only comes from bottom up, not from the top to bottom. Don't expect corrupt politicians to bring Change!

You can't continue doing the same thing and somehow expect a different outcome!!

LONG LIVE

More than half of the senators are drawn from northern Nigeria through the undue large number of states proliferated in the north by foul use of land mass as yard stick.

Those northern senators who can't even speak coherently are waiting for Bill to Establish Grazing Fields for Cattle all Over Nigeria and Bill for incorporating Sharia Criminal Codes To the Constitution. The next is any Bill to Enable Underage Girls be Married and become Eligible to Vote.

Any day any of these Bills come up for voting, the executive arm of government may entice a few senators from the south to join these dormant northern Senators to vote YES and the Bills shall pass. And people of southern Nigeria shall stand with mouth agape in surprises.
Worse, most Nigerians from the south don't even understand that it's through the undue large number of states proliferated in the once one northern region of Nigeria that southern Nigeria politicians are made siddon de look in Nigeria's political process.
