INTRODUCING CANADA - NIGERIA INTERGOVERNMENTAL AND BUSINESS SUMMIT ‘CANIBUS 2016’- THEMED -“CANADA - NIGERIA’S SYNERGY FOR GROWTH, IMPROVED TRADE AND INVESTMENT”

The Canada - Nigeria Intergovernmental and Business Summit is an initiative of Nigerian and Canadian organised private sector in partnership with relevant Government agencies in both countries. It is scheduled to hold from 14th – 16th September, 2016 at the International Plaza Hotel in Toronto Canada.

The underlying objective of this summit, as its theme indicates, is to facilitate the strengthening of relations between Nigeria and Canada through Trade and Investment.

To give effect to this, Nigerian Organizations and the Nigerian & Canadian Business Network (NCBN) are organizing this summit. The Ministry of Trade & Investment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Global Affairs Canada, the Canadian High Commission Nigeria, and the Nigeria High Commission Canada, are aware and will be participating at this summit.
The highly anticipated summit is taking place in Toronto, the business capital of Canada, and is expected to bring together over 400 participants from the public and private sectors, including government officials of the two countries.

Nigeria is Canada’s largest economic partner in sub-Saharan Africa and Trade between both countries have risen from 700 million dollars in 2007 to over 3 billion dollars in 2013. Nigeria with a virile population of over 170 million is the largest single market in Africa.

Nigeria’s economy, which is one of the fastest growing, presents new opportunities to invest in a wide range of key sectors such as Agriculture, Education, Solid Minerals, Mining, Telecommunication, Transportation, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Health, Tourism, and Information Communications Technology ICT.

Canada enjoys strong bilateral relations with Nigeria, a key strategic partner for Canada in sub-Saharan Africa.
