UNEC: Shut Down Indefinitely As Students Vacate Hostel by Fonydear(f): 5:58pm On Jun 14, 2016
The university of Nigeria Enugu campus has been closed indefinitely today tuesday June 14, 2016 as a result of the riot that took place yesterday June 13.
The undergraduate student had a riot which turned violent resulting in destruction of properties within the campus. This was in connection to the poor distribution of light in the school, were students get light for merely two hours in a day.
the poor situation of light led the student to embark on a one week strike without lectures but the management did not act on it .
It was gathered that the management finally called for a meeting with the student body but the meeting ended with a threat on the student to resume or else be rusticated. This angered the student and they went on a violent riot late in the night.
As a result the management today issued a circular on the indefinite closure of the UNEC campus, suspension of the UNEC-SUG and students are asked to vacate the hostel immediately.
The funny thing though is that there have been light today since 8am, something that has never happened before. ..
