Solution To Under Employment And Unemployment Problem In Nigeria by neddwill(m): 7:46pm On Jun 15, 2016
In Nigeria today, we see daily statistics from government parastatals and more close to home, cases from our family and friends affected by the glaring employment crises in the country today.
Mr Olatunji Abioye is a graduate of Mechanical Engineering from one of the prestigious technology universities in Nigeria. He graduated with a Second Class Upper, with a HSE Certificate but after the mandatory NYSC program he stayed home looking for employment opportunities in Lagos and Abuja. It was after 10 months of trying and ultimately failing to land his dream job that he sought work in different sectors. And 2 months into that, was employed as a Field Marketer for an Insurance Company. He is employed but His is termed “Under - Employment” since with his education, certificates and skills He is over qualified for that marketing job. This case is similar to millions of other youth who are tagged “Employed” in Nigeria today.
The definition of an unemployed person and how unemployment is measured, which varies from place to place, has always been a subject of intense debate. Some countries count insured unemployed only, some count those who receive welfare benefits only, while in some parts it is the disabled and other permanently unemployable people. Some countries count those who choose (and are financially able) not to work, supported by their spouses and caring for a family, some count students at college and others use household surveys to estimate, each with its own strengths and weaknesses.
According to a 2014 report by the World Bank entitled ‘Nigeria Economic Report’, Nigeria’s employment challenge is more of under employment rather than unemployment. There are so many Nigerians who are even within the ‘employment circle’, but are not actually better off with their meagre earnings. The number of this category of underemployed people are ever-increasing
The National Bureau of Statistics states that over 57 percent of Nigerian youths are unemployed. And the tendency for this figure to rise is ever present. With depleting foreign reserves, fall in global oil price and a lot of other damning economic challenges, the unemployment rate in Nigeria, according to analysts, could only get worse.
This added to the fact that over 60 percent of the graduates of universities and polytechnics annually troop into Lagos and Abuja in search of jobs that do not exist. By the statistics and figures above we can safely conclude that prevalence rate of under employment as well as unemployment will only increase if nothing is done to curb it at the root.
And so, we at Mozubby Global Services have designed a software to help curb this Under-employment menace. This software is a career discovery and development program for youth at a formative years of their careers to help make guided decisions on which career paths to take. This we believe will go a long way in tackling this socio economic problem of youth under-employment and unemployment.

How does the software work?
Step 1: Choose career of interest. Eg: Accountancy
Step 2: With your mobile phone, Type CAREER; Make space; then type your career of choice. Eg: CAREER ACCOUNTANCY
Step 3: Send message to short code 32359
Step 4: Answer questions presented to you by sending CAREER YES or CAREER NO
After answering the third question, the career that suits you appears, Our Software generates an entry code for you to take a more comprehensive assessment on our website www.mgsltdsub.com to get other careers that suit you.
Assessment on our website has no wrong answers and we encourage answers to each question are given as honestly as possible to increase accuracy.
At the end of the test, 5 career paths will be recommended to you according to the options you selected.
The test is FREE OF CHARGE but SMS rates apply for the text messages.

Yes, Mr Olatunji has taken the test, and according to his personality and strengths, He finds that He would be better suited and consequently more successful in the following career paths,
1. Scientist
2. Entrepreneur
3. Accountancy
4. Engineer
5. Musician
So, Engineering was according to our software the 4th in 5 best suited career paths for him. He would have become more fulfilled in starting his own business as an Entrepreneur.
In the years since our launch, we have given lectures and seminars in schools and organizations around the country. And we welcome invitations to your school to speak and help raise the standard of our Nigerian workforce and ultimately a better society.
