Rice bran oil is extracted from the bran fraction of rice, the kernels or seeds of the rice plant. It contains large amounts of gamma oryzanol, a mixture of antioxidant compounds. The species is native to South Asia and some parts of Africa but is cultivated widely.
Preparation of raw materials
Cleaning bran-The rice bran is separated from all foreign materials like stones, iron particles and so on by screening the raw material, Cooking bran-The cleaned bran is cooking by giving direct live steam to de-activate the lipase enzyme present in the bran. Pelletization-The bran after cooking is having 13-14 moisture is palletized in pellet mill, the powder form bran will be converted into high porosity pellet form in this process which helps the bran oil extraction with normal solvent from bran pellets, Cooling of pellets-The pellets coming out of pellet mill are having 11-12% moisture and 70 degree centigrade in temperature. Adopting the expander can both improve the yield of rice bran oil and reduce the consumption. The extrusion puffing, on the one hand, can make solution lipase in the rice bran passivated under high temperature and high pressure condition, then prevent the rice bran oil rancidity.
Rice bran oil refining section includes deacidification and deodorization section, continuous dephosphorization and degumming section, continuous dewatering section,rice bran oil decolorization and filtering section, rice bran oil crystallization and maturing section, rice bran oil dewaxing section, electric control system. continuous alkali refining shortens contact time between oil and lye, reduces oil saponification state, lowers refining consumption, and improves efficiency.
