Needing to make career decisions can be one of the most confusing point in a person’s life, and worse still if it’s at a very young age, like say, having to decide between going into science or arts class in SS1 (Oh my God I remember those days, super stressful I must say!). But not anymore people! Say hello to Careerpedia.ng ​

Careerpedia.ng is a platform born out of the need to simplify the process of making career decisions, while making you more confident in your decisions, which are better aligned with your skills and interests. With relevant information on over 400 careers, and 1500 occupations born out of years of intensive research, Careerpedia.ng not only exposes you this information, but stays with you through your journey to a fulfilling career, by offering you career guidance and counselling all the way. Careerpedia is useful for students; both in secondary schools and universities, parents, schools, employers, employees, and even job seekers.

Now recently, in line with her vision to produce a workforce of individuals who are confident in their career choices, and equipped with all the necessary information to build and enjoy fulfilling careers, Careerpedia.ng started a tour of 10 secondary schools in Lagos State. So far, Careerpedia Nigeria has recorded major success in her first two stops; Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School, Yaba, and St. Gregory's College, Ikoyi, where we organized our CareerDAY events.

The CareerDAY event was for two days in both schools, and featured major activities such as a Personality Test and an Occupation fair. The Occupation fair had as facilitators, individuals who have been able to excel in their respective fields. The students gained a lot from listening to career advice from them, and hearing about their personal career journeys. In the end, they were able to have one-on-one interactive sessions with these mentors to ask questions, and discuss other factors surrounding career choices.

Our wonderful facilitators were: Chef Stone of Red Dish Chronicles who represented the Art and Lifestyle Industry alongside Ayodeji Rotinwa of Rele Gallery, and Oluwagbon Oshinowo of Zaris Fashion, Chukwuwezam Obanor of Prepclass for the Educational and Social Services Industry, Ajoke Emekene a Human Resource Personnel from Unilever Nigeria, and Joshua Chibueze of PushCV representing the Corporate and Professional Services Industry. Dr. Theresa Ojukwu a Dentist represented the Medical Services and Technology Industry, Arc. Obinna Nnamdi represented the Building and Construction Industry, and Celestine Ezeokoye of Ticketmobile represented the Information and Technology Service Industry. All in all, it was an very educative and inspiring event!

Careerpedia.ng is still on her tour of secondary schools in Lagos, and with her next CareerDAY scheduled to hold in the month of July, and eight more schools to go, interested schools, sponsors and partners, educational agencies, and mentors (facilitators) still have an opportunity to be a part it.
