Have you ever gone to purchase an item and you were informed that the used of the item is superior to the new one? I'm certain you have unless you are different to this nation. What's more, here and there, it could be valid, however would we be able to say the same for portable workstations?

Many of us are very scared when it comes to second hand products including fairly used laptops. The fact remains that most of the laptops we call fairly used are not necessarily faulty laptops. Someone could dump a new laptop just because he is crazy about the latest features of a recent model. At some point it gets to be important to purchase a genuinely utilized items and portable PCs are not exempted. Possibly on account of spending plan, or perhaps in light of the fact that you found a decent arrangement or possibly as a result of some different reasons.

Here are a few things you need to watch out for.

1. Check the age/model of the Laptop.

A decent place to begin is to check how old the system is. This will give you an insight of to what extent the system has been used and will likewise empower you evaluate to what extent you could utilize it.

A fast approach to this is to check the nameplate underneath.

Be that as it may, if the nameplate has been expelled, or the assembling date is not on the nameplate, there is another approach to check the age of the portable PC.

You can do this by checking the BIOS installation date. The BIOS software is normally installed when the computer is ready for use so this can be a good indication of when the system was manufactured.

To check manufacturing date using BIOS installation date, hold the windows button and press “R” (that is Win+R) to open the Run dialog windows and type ‘msinfo32’ (without the quote), and click “OK” or press “Enter” to see the system information.

Look for the “BIOS Version/Date” in the next window after clicking OK to get the BIOS installation date.

2. Check the status of the Hard Drive

The hard drive is a crucial part of a portable PC and can be very expensive to change. You wouldn't have any desire to purchase a portable PC with an awful hard disk, OK?

To check the status of the hard drive. Go to "This PC or My Computer", right-click on the hard drive and select properties, then click on "Hardware" on the following window.
Then confirm the device status. If the hard disk you will see "This hard disk is working properly"

3. Check the Keyboard. This is usually the first point of call for for most buyers. There is need to confirm that the keys are working very well. This can be checked by opening word document to type some lines in order to check all the keys are in good condition.

4. Check the drivers.

A lot of things come with formatting a system. Formatting a system can also remove some of the drivers, that is why it is a good practice to ‘drive’ the system after formatting.

If some of the drivers are missing, you will experience some problem when doing something that requires those drivers. The missing driver could be video card, audio card or anything else.
To check this, right-click on “This PC”, select properties and click on “Device Manager”.
Inspect the drivers to see if there is any with warning signs.

5. Check the USB Ports. A lot of people are not aware that USB ports are linked directly to the motherboard. Once a fairly used laptop is having issues with the USB ports, there is a high tendency that the motherboard may develop problems later on. Always check that all the ports are functioning well.
