Just this afteroom the naira gained a massive 7% in value against the greenback trading at 337 in the parallel market. This is in anticipation of the cbn float policy slated for Monday .The cbn has predicted the naira to appreciate to at least 250 to a dollar. |

I am still waiting for the N1=$1. N250 for just $1 still isn't good for the economy. But hope I'm not like someone waiting for the crab to go to sleep?...... :/ :/ |

Unless government is ready to flood the market with dollars, I don't see how the Naira won't crash. Crude oil, the major forex earner has seen a collapse in price and that means reduced dollar earnings into the country. That means people will pay more for the limited dollars now available. Until the country diversifies its exports and brings oil export share to less than 15% "of total exports before the country can start feeling free from the hold it has on the nation'. |
