the symbolic handover of the Federal Polytechnic for Oil and Gas, Ekowe, Bayelsa State to the minister of education in Abuja. Kachikwu commended the PTDF; an agency under the petroleum ministry, over the completion of the project which he said will improve training in the sector and ensure the development of the Niger Delta region. The project which cost N17 billion started in 2006, but was suspended due to community and insecurity issues. Contracts were re-awarded in 2010. Facilities in the polytechnic comprise administrative blocks, lecture theatres, hotels, workshop/laboratory equipment, staff quarters, ICT building, library, electricity transformer, water tank reservoir, among others.
