Verbal Reasoning For Job seekers. Number Series Quiz Hint: number series is a type of verbal reasoning which people must encounter when writing a competitive examinations. it is an arrangement of of numbers in a certain order,where some numbers are wrongly put into the series of numbers, and some numbers is (or are) missing inside the series of numbers. These or such a number needs to be found. Below is an instance. 30, 23, 17, 12, ? , 5 Ans: 8 Explanation : yes! the answer is 8. That is, 8 is the missing number represented with question mark ( ? ). From the question, 5+3=8 , 8 + 4 = 12, 12 + 5 = 17, 17 + 6 = 23 , 23 + 7 = 30. Now let's see how u can reason, and your chance of breaking through during competitive examinations . I shall Provide The Answers In And Solutions In The Next Three Days Directions (1-10): What will come in place of the question marks (?) in the following Number series? 1. 0, 6, 24, 60, 120, 210, ? A. 336 B. 349 C. 312 D. 337 E. None of these 2. 11, 14, 19, 22, 27, 30, ? A. 39 B. 34 C. 36 D. 35 E. None of these 3. 6, 12, 21, ? , 48 A. 33 B. 39 C. 36 D. 31 E. None of these 4. 18, 22, 30, ? ,78, 142 A. 44 B. 35 C. 46 D. 48 E. None of these 5. 73205, 6655, 605, 55, ? A. 9 B. 5 C. 13 D. 11 E. None of these 6. 25, 100, ?, 1600, 6400 A. 400 B. 300 C. 360 D. 420 E. None of these 7. 125, ?, 343, 512, 729, 1000 A. 216 B. 215 C. 256 D. 225 E. None of these 8. 1 , 9 , 125 , 343 , ? , 1331 A. 730 B. 729 C. 512 D. 772 E. None of these 9. 121, 144, 169, ?, 225 A. 180 B. 172 C. 186 D. 196 E. None of these 10. ?, 2116, 2209, 2304, 2401, 2500 A. 2124 B. 1972 C. 1521 D. 2025 E. None of these Any answer must have its working so you can have a proof for your claimed answer By Slim Shaddy 10. |

SlimShaddy10:ok 1. 0, 6, 24, 60, 120, 210, ?Ans= A, 336 0+ 6*1=6 6+ 6*3=24 24+ 6*6=60 60+ 6*10=120 120+ 6*15=210 the real here is 1,3,6,10,15, and 21 i.e d difference increases by 1. So ans is 210+ 6*21= 210+ 126= 336 2. 11, 14, 19, 22, 27, 30, ?Ans= E, 35 11+3=14 14+5=19 19+3=22 22+5=27 27+3=30 therefore 30+5=35 add 3 and 5 alternately 3. 6, 12, 21, ? , 48Ans=33 6+6=12, 12+9=21 21+12=33 33+15=48 pattern: increase the increment by 3 i.e 6,9,12,15 4. 18, 22, 30, ? ,78, 142Ans= C, 46 18+4=22 22+8=30 30+16=46 46+32=78 78+64=142 the pattern is pretty obvious 5. 73205, 6655, 605, 55, ?Ans=B, 5 73205/ 11=6655 6655/ 11=605 605/ 11=55 thus, 55/ 11=5 6. 25, 100, ?, 1600, 6400Ans= A. 400 250*4=100 100*4=400 400*4=1600 1600*4=6400 7. 125, ?, 343, 512, 729, 1000Ans=A. 216 5^3=125 6^3=216 7^3=343 8^3=512 9^3=729 10^3=1000 8. 1 , 9 , 125 , 343 , ? , 1331Ans=B, 729 on a normal sunny day there are many answers. But since we are to choose from the given options: taking pairs, we observe that 1^2=1 and 3^2=9 Also 5^3=125 and 7^3=343 i.e the members of each pair have the same powers, and each term in the sequence is power of 1,3,5,7,...,11 the 1st 6 odd numbers so we can weakly deduce that since 1331=11^3 then the missing spot would be 9^3=729 9. 121, 144, 169, ?, 225Ans= E, 196 11^2=121 12^2=144 13^2=169 14^2=196 15^2=225 10. ?, 2116, 2209, 2304, 2401, 2500Ans=D, 2025 working backwards: 2500-99=2401 2401-97=2304 2304-95=2209 2209-93=2116 2116-91=2025 there are other methods of solving this one Any answer must have its working so you can have a proof for your claimed answer |

timonski: nice work brother. over good de worry youeee!!!. For now, u scored 8/10. u failed no 8 and 9. u can still try them to see if u can get them at your leisure. |

timonski: now u got 8 though ur own way here is not consistent. this is because, if u are to square, then all base must be squared, and not some squared, some cubed. do u see, the rule of perfect square number series becomes inconsistent. any way, u got no 8 to b B. but no nine is still there to answer |

SlimShaddy10:lol that was the only way to get 729. If you replace 9 with 27 i.e 3^3 then the sequence would be, 1^3,3^3,5^3,7^3,9^3,11^3. No 9 is 196. I.e 14^2 |

SlimShaddy10:is the solution you have problem with? Here is another method: 121+23=144 144+25=169 169+27=196 196+29=225 so the pattern is: 23, 25, 27, 29. I.e increase the increment by 2. |
