Don’t pretend that you don’t know me
As if your white eyes cannot see
Because, you look at me with our long pointed nose
And sneer and jeer
And you won’t cheer
Because most white folks are queer.
While most of us are straight
And even in the mayhem of the riot
You can point out the chocolate from the white latté
For even in the mayhem in Harlem you can see the griot
Walking tall and upright on the street.
