Microsoft Affordable Access Initiative is an initiative with the aim to provide and empower people worldwide with affordable internet and exposure to computer science education. This has seen Microsoft partner with 100 NGOs worldwide to bring to purpose to a reality.

In pursuit of the initiative, Ekovolt which is a telecommunications company has partnered with Microsoft to deliver internet access to rural households who cannot afford it and also to small medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) using TV white space.

The TV white space is simply an unused TV channel between the VHF and UHF spectrum which is used to avoid interference with other channel. Ekovolt intends to use the unused TV channel to access broadband Internet connection.
