The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu has stated that it has disowned those it identified as well-known turncoat who are claiming on the pages of Nigerian newspapers that they do not support their fellow freedom fighters, the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA who IPOB regarded as their kith-and-kin.

Kanu was arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS, on his way into Nigeria from UK IPOB maintained that it is solidly behind the Avengers who are fighting for the freedom of the people of Biafra from the enslaving Islamic Republic of Nigerian Government, adding “We want to place it on record that IPOB under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has no connection with those groups who are criticizing the avengers that are calling for the release of Kanu, the detained IPOB leader” In a press statement issued yesterday and jointly signed by their spokesmen, Emma Nmezu and Dr. Clifford Iroanya, IPOB warned that should the Nigerian government send its troops to the oil-rich Niger Delta land to fight the Avengers, as intelligence report is suggesting, it would direct its members to join hands with the Avengers and confront the troops head-on.

IPOB said it is making a reference to a particular group which is a well-known turncoat and their leader who has been bribed with oil blocks allocations in the oil-rich areas of Biafra land, adding that this same compromised group is known to have started the ugly incidence of kidnapping in Biafra land and their members often used as thugs and hired killers for politicians in Nigeria. IPOB recalled that the Avengers have consistently stated that the release of Kanu is a precondition for any discussion with Nigeria, adding that it is quite unfortunate and disgraceful that the incompetent and intellectually challenged Nigerian Government has swept this demand under the carpet while magnifying the notion of amnesty payments and resource control as reasons for the NDA‘s actions. “For the avoidance of doubt, the Avengers are fighting for the freedom of the people of Biafra and not for amnesty payment or for resource control as some commentators would like to believe. When Biafra is finally liberated from the bondage called Nigeria, resources shall be controlled by the owners of the land where those resources are located. The perennially incompetent Nigerian Government should stop deceiving the entire world into believing that what the freedom fighters of Avengers are demanding is resource control”.

According to the statement, “Amnesty is associated with criminality and a people who are fighting for their freedom should not be unjustly termed criminals. The notion and talk of amnesty for our own freedom fighters (the Avengers or NDA) is a misnomer and should be taken out of any discourse. On the contrary, amnesty should be granted to the Nigerian Government especially to those from the criminal class masquerading as elites who unjustly appropriated oil and gas wells and other resources in Biafra land to themselves and their cohorts to the detriment of the masses. These robbers should be associated with amnesty for their economic criminality not the Avengers. “Ironically, the statement further added: “most of the leaders of the compromised groups are speaking against the great work that the NDA are doing. These shameless scavenging Hausa-Fulani sponsored slaves in Biafra land have placed the needs of their stomach and their families above the overall national interest of the liberation of their people who are under the enslavement of the Nigerian Government in concert with the British Government who have never supported the liberation of any christian country in the world. “We reiterate that IPOB is totally and absolutely in support of the NDA as they march towards the unconditional liberation of our people from the evil grip of Nigerian Government. We plead with the Avengers not to be discouraged by the comments and antics of these so-called leaders of these compromised groups and some other charlatans who parade themselves as freedom fighters. “The Avengers should know that the only ally they have now is IPOB under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu. IPOB is warning the extremist Nigerian Government of Buhari that should they invade any part of Biafra land, as intelligence report indicate they are planning to, then IPOB will order every youth in Biafra land to join the Avengers to defend Biafra land.”

The Igbos quest for nationhood is strictly for hardworking achievers and goal-getters, and not for lazy cowards who have only survived by being stooges and weak-minded fellows.

If you're learned and honest with your talk the least expected of you is to join in the clamour for a UN supervised referendum.

Moreover, you've got freedom of association and so you're better off in OduaArewanistan republic. Take your frustrations there. Leave Igbos alone.

It's wicked and evil to so use any trumped up excuse to support the continuation of this expired entity cum contraption which has hitherto been sustained by gross injustice, lopsidedness and continual bloodletting.

For the benefit of doubts, there exists two groups of Igbo people who rant carelessly about 'One Nigeria':

1. The ignorant who bear Igbo names but lack the requisite Igbo resilience and independence - the products of strange marriages.
2. Those who gain from the fraudulent system and/or are afraid of their post-Nigeria survival.

(And the fact is that both groups are in the minority; be they in/around politics/politicians or in plum jobs).

And there are only two options available for Nigeria's problem:

1. Kowtow to the whims and caprices of Yorubas and accept Hausa-Fulani hegemony.

2. Support self-determination and eventual balkanization of the country as espoused by Igbos aiming for Biafra and some other ethnic groups for their respective republics.

Any other option save a UN supervised referendum is merely tantamount to fooling around.

Igbos never asked to be made Nigerians. And it will be silly of anyone to force friendship on someone who is not interested in mingling with them.

Guy, save that story for the birds. Scotland has been with Britain for over 300 years. It did not stop them seeking independence and they had a referendum in 2014. They even announced 2 days ago that they are planning a second referendum. This is the same Britain that made you a Nigerian. If they can hold referendums on independence then who are you to say you can't? Nations are settling disputes with referendum but as the backward African you are, you are still shouting 'one Nigeria' and looking for war with people who don't want to be with you.
