Except for any last minute change, the striking resident doctors are expected back to their duty posts today.

The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) took a decision to suspended its on-going nationwide indefinite strike and is poised to resume work Monday, June 27, 2016.

According to a communique made available at the end of an extraordinary national executive council meeting which was held at the trauma centre of the National Hospital, Abuja , the association's president, Dr. Muhammad Adamu Askira, explained that the decision was to enable the government to implement the agreements reached within the agreed time frame.

Askira added that the association will review the progress of the intervention, at the July NEC scheduled for July 25-30.

According to him, “In view of the genuine intervention of the Hon. Speaker and other key stakeholders, NARD hereby suspends the on-going nationwide indefinite strike action so as to enable the government to implement the agreements reached within the agreed time frame on or before 14th July 2016.

“Work will resume from Monday 27th June 2016 at 8:am."
