TV War Threatens Nigeria-Tunisia World Cup Clash
There may well be a television blackout for Sunday's World Cup clash between Nigeria and Tunisia following a tug of war between two of Nigeria's major TV networks

Private television station, Africa Independent television (AIT), has threatened to report the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to match officials for breaching its exclusive television contract after the association were directed by the sports ministry to allow government-owned Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) also beam the match.

AIT has signed an exclusive, four-year broadcast contract with the NFF that covers Nigeria World Cup matches, among other commercial rights.

An agitated NFF official informed Goal.com: "We have received a directive to allow NTA also broadcast this match as part of their social responsibility, but this would be a breach of our contract with AIT, who have threatened to report the matter to the match commissioner.

"If reason does not prevail, fans may not follow the match on television because of this unnecessary controversy."

This is the latest episode of television war between AIT and NTA after both stations were recently locked in a tug of war over the TV rights for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup to be hosted by Nigeria from October 24.
