Sam Querrey, this afternoon, defeated World No 1 and defending champion, Novak Djokovic 7-6 (8-6) 6-1 3-6 7-6 (7-5). It's an upset of tsunamic proportions. This brings to an end Djokovic's 30-match winning streak at Grand Slams. It also wrecks Djokovic's hopes of becoming the first man to win all four majors in a calendar year since Rod Laver in 1969. The coast is now clear for either Federer or Murray (who has lost 5 finals to Djokovic including the last two grandslams) to capitalise. |
