#1800

The guy gave the woman #800 change, after selling #200 goods.

He had to give John #1000.

Total loss=#1000 + #800 = #1800

The shopkeeper lost #2000 in all, 200 worth of goods, 800 change given to the customer, and 1000(1000 destroyed). given to john.i e
200+800+1000=2000.

This dude goes to his neighbour and exchanges his counterfeit note for his neighbour's geniune notes of same same value - five #200 notes - so as to settle his customer.

#800 + #200 that the lady walks out with = #1000.

But then that's not his loss; its the neighbours'. The neighbour is the one with the counterfeit. So the neighbour calls his attention to the fake note and demands a genuine one, to which the shop owner, as any rational person would, obliges; thereby transferring the loss back to himself as the 'rightful victim'... lol.

Well, it means dude lost a total of #1000. The biz with the neighbour was simply designed to throw people off. And it's kinda doing a pretty good job...

The counterfeit is useless, so it's equivalent to this dude having no money at all on him and borrowing #1000 in #200 denominations so as to settle his customer. Note that this is a #1000 he would pay back.

This man then returns and gives the lady #800 change and watches her walk away with #200 worth of goods, while he still holds #200.

#800 + #200 that the lady walks out with = #1000.

Later, neighbor comes breathing fire about his money, so oga shop owner refunds him the borrowed #1000 by adding his personal #800 on the remaining #200. So this is equivalent to him borrowing #800 from the neighbor and not #1000, since the #200 he was holding thinking he just made a sale is part of the borrowed 1k which hasn't been spent. It might as well be considered 'returned' during his repayment.

Total loss = #800 (change) + #200 (goods worth) + #800 (added to the #200 to complete neighbor's money to 1k) = #1800.

You almost got it, but you instead complicated the whole process by confusing yourself just at the final stage. Cross check it again bro

Its 2000 Naira he lost
Assuming the shopkeeper don't have any money In his pocket... Only The fake 1000 the lady gave him and he just exchange it with real value As the lady took 200 worth goods and 800change= he lost 1000. And have only 200. When the fake 1000 came back. He has to maybe get another 800naira to add to the only 200naira he has and payback to Jon. Shopkeeper lost a total of 2000
