It is no secret that the Buhari administration is pushing for the seizure of our lands in the better south to handover to the Fulani herdsmen as grazing routes.

The fact remains that the grazing bill is not meant to establish grazing routes in the south but to permanently relocate Fulani herdsmen into ranches set up by thr FG by seizing our lands.

The Sahara is encroaching in the north and climate change has seriously disrupted the rainfall pattern and this has led to increasing drought conditions in most parts of the north.

The persistent drought has altered the biochemistry of natural grazing fields with natural grasses emitting dangerously high levels of nitric cynanide in a bid to prevent grazing. This is a form of defense natural vegetation employ as a means of final defense during harsh climatic conditions. This thus has led to grazing fields even during the rainy season up north to be death traps to cattle.

The once thick tropical rainforests that prevented Fulani pastorialists from crossing the River Niger down south is quickly vanishing due to unchecked deforestation. This has led to favorable grazing lands in the south free of the dreaded Tse-Tse fly.

The only way to prevent the Fulani land grabbing agenda is for our governors to as a matter of urgency encourage the setting up of ranches by indegionous people which can be accelerated by granting land rights and liscencing to cattle ranch operators.

We in the south consume most of the beef than even the Hausa Fulani. Go to any market in the north and you will see where biscuit bone and tendons are sold. If you observe you will find mostly the same hausa fulani patronising this off cuts than pure beef. They pnly eat beef occassionally. The cost of a mature cow in the north is about 80 to 150k while in the south the cows retail from 250k.

That should tell anyone that the south as a whole is a better market for beef and since our lands are now more attractive to cow grazing I see no reason why cattle grazing can not be done in the south by southerners.

By granting liscences and land to ranchers by our respective state governors the federal govt will have no choice than to shelve this land grabbing scheme.

If there is no land left to allocate will the federal govt vacate those already issued Certificate of Occupancy?

This should not be limited to cattle farm lands but every farmer in the south should be granted ownership of their farm lands.

Let me see then how one Duara sectional bigot will then come from Abuja and take the land from the owners of the land and give it to his Fulani brothers.

In addition, state Govts down south should enact strict regulations on the retailing of beef. Only certified beef reared in govt approved rearing ranches should be allowed to be butchered and sold.

This alone will make Fulani free grazing cattle illegal and unfit for retail and consumption .

We must force them into the 21st century.
