Reason Why Lagos State Student Battle With the Nigerian Police Force.

The crisis in the Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos, became pronounced, on Monday, as students battled men of the Nigerian police to prevent the vice-chancellor, Professor Lateef Hussein, from entering the university.

The students, led by their president, Mr. Leke Bakare, had blocked the entrance and exit gates of the university to prevent the vice-chancellor, who was to report to his office from doing so.

However, in its effort to curb the protest, the Divisional Police Headquarters, Area E Command, Ojo, directed its men to intervene.

As at 9.00a.m, it was observed that about 500 policemen with two armored tanks had been positioned at the main gate.

Speaking to the Nigerian Tribune, the Public Relations Officer (PRO), of the Students Union , Mr. Agboola Seriki, said that the police had arrested about 20 students, adding that the union would not stop the protest until their members are released.
