With less than a month before the 2016 Olympics kick off in Rio de Janeiro, Brazilian national police are searching for a former Guantanamo Bay inmate with alleged links to Al Qaeda that may have found his way into the country using a fake passport.

The Policia Federal confirmed that officers conducted searches for Syria native Jihad Ahmad Diyab to Estado de Minas, a national Brazilian newspaper. Diyab, who was released from Guantanamo Bay in 2009, had been legally living in Uruguay as a refugee. According to Estado de Minas, the investigation into Diyab, who also goes by the name Abu Wa’el Dhiab, began when Uruguayan police issued an alert about him possibly entering Brazil three weeks ago.
