An alleged leader of a top Niger Delta militant group has threatened President Muhammadu Buhari and hisfamily with death in a video message that has been trending on social media.

Nigeria has been battling with the problem of renewedissues of Niger Delta militancy in the year 2016 due to a variety of problems mixed with politics. A leadingNiger Delta militant group known as the Niger Delta Avengers have been leading the race in the destruction ofoil facilities in the South-south region which has threatened the mainstay of the Nigerian economy.

Some militant groups have called on the halt of the ongoing anti-graft war by President Muhammadu Buhari and also the release of prominent members of the People's Democratic Party like Sambo Dasuki andothers as a condition for peace.

Other groups called for the unconditional release of the founder of the Independent People of Biafra and separatist leader, Nnamdi Kanu who has been incarcerated by the Federal Government with charges ofterrorism and treason slammed on him.

Other armed groups advocate for a development programme for the deplorable Niger Delta regionwhich has been degraded byoil spills and fire outbreaks due to decades of oil exploration by multinational companies who have failed to adequately compensate the host communities.

This brief narrative above leads us to another strong threat to the President by a Niger Delta militant group leader from Orogun in Delta state named Ogoneoghochukwu. This audacious Nigerian bared his face in a threatening video where he reiterated his plan to kill the Nigerian President and his most popular child, Zahra. Like other groups, he is calling for the immediate and unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu. The young man who wore a black pair of sun glasses and assumably read slowly from a written statement sounded firm in his words.

The viral video came with a short caption below:

''Buhari has just started a fight that he can not finish, We warned him! ...The unarmed Biafrans you are sending your army to kill are innovative, they are intellectuals, they are warriors. They hardly start up something but when theydo, they don't go back. We are Biafrans!!!, We are the avengers!! We will come for you!! Those against Biafra freedom wait for us!!''

I'm one of buhari's biggest fan. even though the change we clamoured for hasn't come to fruition. I don't regret voting for him.

but to be Frank, he did some things wrong that has led to all these bombings and provocations.

when he came in, it was obviouse that majority of the Niger Deltans and southeast didn't want him. Most especially, the political leaders of these area.

The political leaders obviously didn't want him out of selfish interests because they knew their looting wdnt thrive as well as it did under Jonathan.

But the commoners, the indigenes who happen to be the majority lived in fear of the unknown after their brother was kicked out. They had been fed with stories of how Buhari would islamize Nigeria. How he is a bigot. How he would maltreat their region.

After this mindset, Buhari should have avoided doing things that would validate their negative thinking. He should have been more sensitive to the myopic-intelligence of these people.

Truely, based on the realities on ground most of the contracts on ground in those regions had to be either reviews or stopped. Those contracts and programs were awarded shabbily. Not only that, the current economic situation would have made it difficult for the Current Government to continue with them.

The pipeline contracts, amnesty programs, international scholarships, etc.

Even if it was inevitable to slash or review or stop these contracts, he should have approached the decisions more diplomatically. if possible, stoop low to the level of the poor indigenes. Embraced them against these looters and militants. let the commoners know himself and them have a common enemy.

Nnamdi KANU should have been his joker at some point. On a first detention, no one should be kept for that long. Even Mandela had some brief brief detentions before he was locked up for 27years.

Nnamdi KANU should have been released within a maximum of 1month, warned and placed under tight security surveillance. how can buhari equate nnamdi's crime to that of Dasuki?

1 is selfish&ignorant while the other was insensitive&supported genocide.

A leader shd always realize that there are a lot of ignorant people amongst his followers. Those her the ones that need to be handled with kid gloves.

Now to those clamoring for Biafra and Niger delta secession, I only feel sorry for what the society has done to you. you are clamoring for what you have no idea of what it would become.

what you should rather clamor for is Resource-control or Federalism. Large Population would always be an advantage in the kind of economy/environment we all want Nigeria to become.

Those clamoring for division are just being ignorant and above all, angry. but their anger shouldn't be placed on Buhari. it shd be placed on all they have ho d thru in the hands of all the leaders that have robbed this country dry. They are the cause of the hunger in the land.

But no need crying over spilt milk. Let's savage what we can and make tomorrow better for us all.

Guys, don't get me wrong, its not that I love Nigeria or love Nigerians more than anyone else. I just know we would all do better as 1, as there is always STRENGTH IN NUMBERS.

I pray God blesses Buhari with profound wisdom to lead us all to the promise-land.
