The last administration improved our growth rate & made Nigeria the largest economy in Africa but many APC supporters kicked against it. They claimed the economy was over bloated and does not add any value to common Nigerians. This claim of NNPC recording profit is similar to PDP claims then, how does this affect common man? The petrol is still N145/litre, Kerosene is over N200/litre & Diesel had jumped to N185/litre. The solution to Nigeria problem is to kill these two parties APC & PDP. 1 Like |

This government is crazy, you are not ashame of yourselves. The only person that congratulate you for this report is an illiterate or the poorest person that is about to die. How much does a director in nnpc earn in a month? And complete nnpc putshame aside and publish this nonsense. One day, evil spirit will slap all our leaders both small and big starting from dollardeen |

And yet somebody would say Buhari's Govt is not working ! What an irony of analysis . Carry go Mr President. We must have a sense of vision & profitability in govt .It is one thing to be effective & it is another thing to be efficient. This Govt to me is set out to be effective & efficient & this is the only way we can be developed as a nature. The culture of waste is no longer allowed . God bless you Mr president . |

SeverusSnape: That is nigeria for you. The 6 years of last administration when oil was sold $120, NNPC still could not post any profit. Yet some people has the gut to move $ around as if they move bread label. |

Not news to me, if this doesn't happen then those administering NNPC ought to be questioned. Subsidy has been a major drain on NNPC pursue and with its removal, the company should return to a profit-making outfit. Common sense dictates that. |

bonechamberlain: Didn't you read the article? NNPC has not made any money at all in any month for the past 15 years. They only report losses, in billions per month. This is the first profit they have made in 15 years. 1 Like |

This is major: first profit in 15 years!!! Even if it is $1 profit, it is better than losing money monthly! Business owners can relate. The monthly report stated: “PPMC recorded a net gain of N17.69 billion as against the net loss of N6.91 billion in April, 2016 following complete stoppage of commercially unfavourable swaps and offshore processing agreements (OPAs). At the above, some people have been 'chopulating' from these OPAs from time immemorial to our detriment. 1 Like |

SeverusSnape: On the one hand, you acknowledge Kachikwu as having done a good job; on the other you've refused to acknowledge that his new position affords him better oversight and more control, which may eventually translate to PMB having made a shrewd move. Secondly, NNPC being in the black has little to do with the global price of crude versus Nigeria's domestic price. In case you haven't noticed, the cost of refining, transporting and other landing costs don't exactly go hand in hand with per barrel cost. You'd need to reappraise your argument accordingly. By and large, what he did was reduce waste and plug pilfering in NNPC. Nowhere else in the world will you find an oil company declaring losses back to back yet paying staff industry grade wages and bonuses, and still recruiting! 1 Like |

DelGardo: In as much as I admire Kachikwu's management ability, using NNPC supposed first monthly profit in 15yrs to give credit to the Buhari government is very ignorant and laughable. Have we forgotten that 15yrs of fuel SUBSIDY payments constituted a NEGATIVE on NNPC 's balance sheet? With the removal or gradual fading of fuel SUBSIDY, NNPC has NO reason whatsoever to have NEGATIVE figures on its balance sheets. It's simple arithmetic, duuuhhhhh! , nothing to do with Buhari's management competence, which we all know by now, is ZERO. |
Re: NNPC Reports Monthly Profit Of N274m For The First Time In 15 Years - ThisDay by DelGardo: 6:37pm On Jul 08, 2016 |
plaetton: Nice attempt by you to take the shine off this achievement. Under Jonathan most of the fuel was imported by third parties and subsidies thereof settled by the FMoF not through NNPC (correct me if I am wrong). Mind you subsidy budget is not held by NNPC so they cannot absorb the actual costs. NNPC imports refined products by crude swap arrangements to meet their own quota which is usually a fraction of the requirement, which is why they are usually able to sell slightly below pump price. Yet they never turned a profit. E pain you say the man with zero management competence is doing what a legion of ineffectual Bs could not achieve, abi? |
