As an Ekiti born on both sides of the family I find your statement curious.

You appear to equate good governance with populism. They are quite different. Good governance entails creating frameworks and turning those frameworks into tasks and objectives and finally executing them. In several instances good governance may not even be supported by the larger population until the effects become obvious. Populism on the other hand are symbolic shows which provide people with short term encouragement without touching the conditions under which they live. The deeper the problem, the more frequent and outlandish populist action ( if we can call it that) need to be.

Ekiti is a state with great promise in lumber, agriculture and tourism. To fulfill it's promise it must first tap into the numerous grants and international impact loans. To do this, it must draw up a theory of change and logic document which it must strictly adhere to. This should provide it with about $300-650m in funding over three years. Used judiciously this will reactivate the saw Mills, agriculture and supporting infrastructure. Let's even leave tourism for now.

The educational system needs to be revisited. The last time I was there to make donations to indigent children, teachers were begging me with tears in their eyes to take them to Lagos. But Ekiti's fortunes cannot rise without a well trained work force. Which means teacher recertification and revaluation. These are not populist but they are necessary.

I realise that Fayose provides many people with idle fun but the people of Ekiti behind closed doors are crying. There is no hope for them in populism. Lest it should appear that I am not invested there; I have a 17 acre cassava farm and a free library for students complete with computers and Internet access.

Ekiti and Nigeria deserve better than this. If everyone would ask this man to please go back to work the results would be better for the common man in real terms. Please don't celebrate mediocrity and empty symbolism.

As a Ekiti man, tell us the truth. Who cared for the people of Ekiti and treated them better. Under who did Ekiti people fare better.

Am not witch hunting him or hating oh. All am saying is no matter how bad a governor is, some people go still hail am. As much as some governors are looting, some people are still benefeciaries. Even if buhari walks in the streets of the south east, some people go still hail am. Thats just my point.
