“WHAT’S NEXT AFTER RAMADAN?

I beseech Almighty Allah for protection against the chained one in Ramadan, Sheiton(devil) and I begin with the exalted names of Allah Subhana wataala. May the peace and blessings in all ramifications shower upon the noble soul of prophet Muhammad (saw) and the generality of Muslim Ummah.

After this…

Obedient servant of Allah, Assalamun Aleikum Warahmotullahi Wabarakatuhu Our topic of today will centre upon “WHAT’S NEXT AFTER RAMADAN

“The thirst have gone, the body is watered and cool and the reward is established by the grace of Allah”.

Known to individuals and all, you have strived so hard to carryout your religious responsibilities in the just concluded Ramadan. You fasted, prayed fervently, observed solat on time and nawafil, did good deeds even if it is an atom weight, some secluded and rounded it off with zakâtu’l fitr.

These are, no doubt, pleased Allah as you look forward to receiving His blessings.

With all you have strived for, with foodless days and sleepless nights you had had, why do you think going back to your old ways is the right thing?

The month of Ramadan came to cleanse you from evils and sins;

“A Ramadan to another is an expiation of whatever comes between them” that is Allah’s promise which you wish to receive from Him.

Now that you are cleansed from your sins, deviating from the halal way after Ramadan is not the right thing and its a direct way to loosing in Allah’s promise. You never can tell when you will leave this dunya(world), you never can tell whether you are a living dead or not, you never can tell whether the next Ramadan will meet you alive or not. Why not live your life as if you will die tomorrow.

The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said: “Live your life as if you are a stranger or a traveller, if the night falls with you, do not expect the dawn, if the dawn comes with you, do not expect the dusk”.

In view of the above, live every moment of your life as if you are in the Month of Ramadan, take your eyes away from haram(forbidden), shut your mouth afar the haram and every other parts of you from haram like you did during Ramadan. That is a perfect way of life that pleases Allah.

The below verse of the exalted words of Allah will tell you what the scenario of Ramadan looks like:

“Muhammad (SAW) is no more than a Messenger, and indeed (many) Messengers have passed away before him. If he dies or is killed, will you then turn back on your heels (as disbelievers)? And he who turns back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah, and Allah will give reward to those who are grateful” Q3:144.

Analogically, this verse implies the fact that, whoever worships Allah, follows what He commands and abstains from what He forbids all because it is what we are created for not because its Ramadan, for ramadan have gone, will you then not worship your creator anymore, will you now start to disobey him?

Don’t be the Muslims of just Ramadan, even though it’s coming back next year but can you assure yourself a long live? NO!

The question of “What is next after Ramadan?” is rhetoric. Nothing is next after Ramadan than what you did in it. If you spent it well, continue with it, if you didn’t, adjust today, tomorrow might be the end of your day.

Continue on your good deeds

Seal your Ramadan with Sitta Shawwal(6 fast of Shawwal). Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam said: “Whoever fasts Ramadaan and follows it with 6 days fasting of Shawwaal, it will be as if he fasted for a whole year” Sahiih; reported by Muslim, Abuu Daawood, at-Tirmidhii, an-Nasaaii and Ibn Maajah).

Don’t venture into your old bad ways or even start a new one

Don’t leave the Qur’an to dust

Wake up in the night as you did in the days of Ramadan

and

Give sadaqoh(charity) always

There’s nothing actually after Ramadan than what Ramadan brought and the deeds it preached.

May Almighty Allah make it easy for us and make our last deed our best deed, also may He make our best day the day we will meet Him.

How to remain steadfast after Ramadan:
1. Fast the sittu shawal (6 days if fasting in the month of shawal).
2. Fast on Mondays, Thursdays and every 13,14,15 of hijra calendar.
3. Read at least a page of Qur'an a day
4. Seek forgiveness at least a hundred times a day. The prophet used to seek for it 70 times per day.
5. Perform Tahajud at least thrice a week.
6. And most importantly, pray at least 3 out if the 5 compulsory salat in congregation. Make the subhi compulsory.

اللهم أعنا على ذكرك وشكرك وحسن عبادتك
