A suspect in the Dallas police shooting has been identified as Micah X. Johnson, 25, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday. Johnson was a resident of the Dallas area who had no ties to terror groups or a criminal history. An unnamed law enforcement official told the Los Angeles Times Johnson had relatives in Mesquite, Texas.
Johnson appears to have been the only gunman in Thursday’s night’s deadly sniper attack on the Dallas police, according to the New York Times. Originally, officials reported that there were two or three “snipers” involved in the attack.

“He wanted to kill officers. And he expressed killing white people, killing white officers, he expressed anger for Black Lives Matter,” Dallas Police Chief David Brown said during a press conference. Chief Brown also stated that the suspect claimed the police would find I.E.Ds.

According to Army records, Johnson was a Private First Class in the U.S. Army Reserves, serving from 2009 to 2015.
