Drake’s international smash “One Dance” has just recently been named the biggest song of the year so far, and that’s difficult to argue from almost any standpoint. The catchy hip-hop/R&B/pop track is dominating the charts, owning streaming sites, and it’s all over the radio. Believe it or not, Flo Rida’s latest hit song “My House” owns the honor of being named the best-selling song thus far in 2016. According to a list of the biggest tunes of the year published by music analytics firm BuzzAngle, the poppy rapper’s song has sold 1.9 million copies, and though no track has managed to actually sell over 2 million copies so far this year, it’s highly likely that “My House” will be the first to do so, and it will probably pass that mark fairly soon.

“My House” might be the best-selling song of 2016, but that doesn’t mean it will be remembered as one of the biggest hits of the year. In fact, it probably won’t even go down as one of Flo Rida’s most beloved tunes. “House” stalled at No. 4 on the Hot 100, and it didn’t stick around nearly as long or make the same kind of impact that some of his previous international hits have, such as “Low,” “Right Round” or “Wild Ones.” The number one best-selling song is taken from an EP of the same name that Flo released last year. At the time, the My House EP debuted (and peaked) at No. 14 14, but since then, two of its tracks have made it into the top 10, beginning with last year’s “G.D.F.R.,” which quit climbing at No. 8. Flo has never been known as an artist that is able to sell an album very well, but his track record when it comes to sending singles into the upper regions of the Hot 100 is impressive.

Surprisingly, Drake’s “One Dance” doesn’t even make the top five when it comes to the list of the best-selling songs this year. In fact, the eight-week number one smash is in sixth place, behind Flo Rida, Lukas Graham’s “7 Years,” Justin Bieber ’s “Love Yourself,”

Rihanna ’s “Work,” and “Stressed Out,” by Twenty One Pilots, respectively. Drake’s first number one as a lead act has sold 1.5 million copies, so it still has quite a ways to go before it catches up with Flo Rida, though if “Dance” continues to be as popular as the past few months have shown it to be, the song could move up a few slots.

Drake’s sixth-place ranking shows that while the song is performing well sales-wise, it’s true popularity comes from streaming platforms. The list of the biggest songs of 2016 that places “One Dance” first takes into account the enormous stream counts that the single has racked up on platforms like Apple Music and Spotify. BuzzAngle has the total count for “One Dance” at just under 282 million streams, which is easily tens of millions ahead of the second-highest track.
