In the scriptures according to the book of Mathew 11:12, Jesus said: “From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force.” This was even when Jesus had, in the preceding verse, stated that there is no one born of woman greater than John the Baptist. That scenario serves as an appropriate background to the unsavoury activities of many so-called men of God today. Of particular interest, because of the phenomenal growth of the church globally, is how some people in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), through their gang-up against the General Overseer (G.O.) of the church, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, cost the church of having any stake in the ownership of ever-flourishing Redemption Camp.

So much has been said in recent times about the shenanigans of some pastors of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), both within and outside the country, in their unwholesome bid to besmirch the hard-earned reputation of the G.O., Pastor Adeboye, and railroad him out of office so that they could have a free rein to pillage the church’s assets. Suffice it to add that such schemes only tend to validate the tongue-in-cheek remark by one land speculator (Omo Onile in local parlance), suggesting that the pastorate in Nigeria is something that is acquired by how deep one’s pocket is, and not by divine call...
