The world is a global village and we can therefore follow the seamless transition of power in the UK. Although the parliamentary system of democracy is practised in the UK compared to the presidential system, there are some salient points to be noted:
- the resignation of David Cameron. The former Pm was not compelled to resign but felt a moral obligation to. In fact a number of MPs from his party had written an open letter to him before the EU referendum not to resign whatever the outcome. One can say that virtually all PMs in the same position would have done the same thing.
- the short time table of transition and even shorter actual transition.
- the short period that it took one of the remaining contestants of the Conservative leadership position - Andrea to concede to Teresa May.
- the short period it took David Cameron to pack out of 10 Downing Street ( UK's Aso Rock)
- the almost immediate moving in of Teresa May. Although Cameron stayed there for over 6 years there was no need to 'refurbish' it with Billions of Naira ( hundreds of millions of pounds)
- the modesty displayed by Cameron in the physical movements of his stuff.
- the fact that the Cameron family had let there usual family house while at no 10 and could therefore not immediately move there. Would our Nigerian leaders not consider it demeaning to let out their usual residence. Taking of accommodation the former Deputy Prime Minister stayed in his personal flat throughout his 5 years in government.
- the modest tone of Cameron's valedictory speech in which he emphasised the privilege to serve
- the final departure of the Cameron family is a modest people carrier from No 10.

The 24/7 global Information Age enabled us to see these activities on a per second basis. We expect our politicians to take a cue from best global practices and if they don't we need to demand same. The fact that Nigeria which is a relatively poor country has about 11 jets in the presidential fleet while some children are unable to have basic health care or free education does not wash. That a state government that is technically insolvent would draw over 250 million as unaudited security vote needs to be questioned.

I rest my case.

Good observation.

Humans live there.
Animals live here.
