Cape Verde Islands and the Democratic Republic of Congo were the big losers in the latest FIFA World Rankings. The Leopards dropped seven places in the rankings to 59th in the world and ninth in Africa, while Cape Verde slipped even further – they plummeted 13 places to 62nd overall and 11th on the continent. Guinea also dropped eight places (to 12th in CAF), but Guinea-Bissau were the biggest climbers, shooting up a mammoth 40 places to 75th in the world (18th in CAF). Algeria are still the best-ranked African team in 32nd place, three ahead of Ivory Coast. Ghana is one place further back in 36th. Morocco are now eighth in Africa after jumping eight places to 54th in the overall rankings. Overall, Argentina are still the top-ranked side, followed by Belgium and Colombia. European champions Portugal have jumped two places to sixth, while runners-up France are a place further back, having moved up 10 spots. TOP 20 African nations 1. Algeria (32nd overall) 2.
