Lately it has become a common phenomenon especially in online news media and blogs for some Ikorodu residents (real or imagined) to blame criminal activities on "Ijaw militants" and Ijaws in general.
This is laughable at best but at the same time dangerous and capable of causing ethnic tension/violent hostilities between the two ethnic groups with the Ijaws being on the defensive for a crime they know nothing about.
We are a peaceful people each and everywhere we go or settle and even assimilate the traditions and lifestyle of our hosts but we can never be canon fodder for anybody. The psychology of criminal activity states that crimes such as these are usually committed by residents and locals of such community. The locals know the bad boys in their community, a cursory glance at police records of arrestees will show you the ethnic nationality of the criminals and I dare say not up to 1% of them are Ijaws. Ikorodu and other residents should root out their children who are criminals and stop blaming Ijaws for their wahala.
