[size=16pt]Islamic society distributes foodstuff in Kano , Jigawa, other states[/size] IN a move to assist Muslims during the Ramadan, the World Islamic Call Society, with headquarters in Libya, has distributed over 20 tons of rice, flour and sugar in Kano to support poor and needy Muslim brothers who are observing the Ramadan fast. The leader of the team, Dr Ismail Idris, a lecturer with Kano State College of Education, Kumbotso, while distributing the foodstuffs at the premises of the proposed Libyan Islamic University situated in Kano metropolis, said the organization planned to distribute additional consignment of the foodstuffs to other locations in Kano city. He said that the society would also proceed to Jigawa state to hand over many tons of rice, flour and sugar for distribution to the people. It was also stated that similar gesture had been extended to Borno, Kano and Osun states by the society. According to Dr. Idris, the need to assist Muslim brothers who are observing Ramadan fast was necessitated by the current world economic meltdown. He stated that Muslims, wherever they might be in the world, should be assisted with foodstuffs during the exalted month of Ramadan. The support is being initiated in Nigeria by the Libyan government so that other wealthy people could do the same to the less-privileged in the society, he stated. He further disclosed that in Kano metropolis, the next point for distribution of the commodities would be Emir’s palace road, so that the foodstuffs could be given wider reach. for SOURCE: Click here |
