In my opinion i think the farmers are self centered. Remember these herdsmen are Nigerians and they have the right to live and do their businesses any where in Nigeria. What's the big deal in allocating some portion of their farms for cattle grazing? If they were also rearing cattles, won't they graze them? The herdsmen are majorly the source of beef in the country and since everyone patronizes their meat, why can't we support the grazing bill so they can stop moving their cattles in the cities and instead have grazing fields? If every state creates grazing reserves don't you think it will limit clashes between farmers and herdsmen? I know there are bad eggs amongst the herdsmen but we can't throw away the baby and bath water. There has to be a compromise for the sake of peace.

The farmers should be ready to pay for their protection since they are doing their private business. They are not expected to buy guns to protect themselves. The government will provide security if they are ready to pay. The fulanis are not violent people, let's stop the stigmatization of herdsmen sad

.Suddenly farmers are to pay for their protection! hmmmm, protection against what? who have been protecting them since? Fulanis are to protect themselves by going about with Ak47.Opinion indeed.

Read the article and refer me to where Audu said Farmers will pay for protection.

Your own selfishness together with that of your herdsmen is confounding. If the situation were to be reversed, would the headers be kind enough to give lands to the farmers? Cattle grazing is a private business, do they give the rest of us beef for free? Once they're willing to pay some lease/rent for "portions" of the farmers farmlands and abide by the land owners term as obtainable in every other landlord/tenant agreement, I think the farmers might be willing to help them. I find it funny how you still think the herdsmen are permitted to buy AK47 for land grabbing but the farmers would have to pay the government for protection, after paying their taxes,

Cows are not humans and can never be more sensible than humans. Put these Cows in a particular field. They don't have to travel from one state to another. Let the owners buy lands at cheap rates and keep the Cows there. Rich aboki go sit down for house, poor abo.ki go dey travel from pillar to post with Cows...which kain life be that

The writer still failed to quote the ministers comment from whence he got the hint.

I am not feigning ignorance just stating that I fail to see anything in the article that remotely hints at such a policy.

Without even a direct quote from the Minister, I fail to see how that can be a Legal solution to be considered by the government.

personally I think this issue is not upto what people are saying here. This security guard is optional not mandatory to the farmers
Then if you are a politician or a high profiled individual and you request for a security guard(police) at ur service won't you pay?
Moreso how many farms are registered talkless been recognized by the government.
my fear is if youths thinks in this way and ranting like a motor park tout this country is in soup

The so called idea the FG want to implement will not work out. A time will come if Buhari is not careful when he will need to hire security men from other country to guard him. The FG should give solution on how to combat the people killing her citizens. Why will I have my farm and pay for security after taxation. Honourable minister of agriculture should find the solution rather than seeking suggestions.
