Ondo 2016 Guber Poll: The Fate of Olusola Oke in APC Shaky

- As PDP Gladiators pressurised Mimiko To Drop Anointed Candidate

Chief Olusola Oke, former national legal adviser of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), who decamped to the All Progressive Congress (APC), following the declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the last presidential election in Nigeria seems to have lost his popularity and presently in a state of dilemma as his fate in becoming the governor of Ondo State through the platform of APC remained shaky and unknown.

Findings from Burdillon in lagos state, revealed that the national leader of the party had made his stance known to the national leadership of APC that any members of the party who is not up to 2years as member of the party should not be allowed to contest the Ondo State November 2016 governorship election. Although the state chairman of APC, Isaac kekemeke had spoken severally, thus assuring all the aspirants that the party will conduct primary election and that every one of them will be allowed to participate in the party’s primary with equal treatment. But the assurances by the party chairman is very far from the reality upon investigations from the fallout of various meetings held with the national leader of the party by some stakeholders in APC.

Presently, the fate of Chief Oke is unknown. Those very close to him who does not want their names mentioned said the political gladiator is confused. Investigations revealed that the politician is regretting for decamping from the PDP to APC. According to one of the source, Chief Oke would have been an adopted sole aspirant of PDP from Ondo south had it been he did not leave the party.

Chief Oke is presently using former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s influence to push for the governorship ticket of APC in Ondo State. Another aspirant in APC, Mr Segun Abraham, a business mogul and a very wealthy man, believe that money can do all things; having the hope of realizing his ambition with his financial power while barr Rotmi Akeredolu rely on the influence of his godfather, the national leader of the party to clinch the party’s ticket. But a reliable source said the closeness of Senator Ajayi Borroface to president Buhari is a very big threat to all the aspirants and their godfathers. Apart from the popularity of senator Borroface among all the APC aspirants, it was also learnt that the senator is one of the key loyalists of the president.

Meanwhile, in a similar development, there is a huge pressure on governor Olusegun Mimiko from the leadership of PDP with the support of all the aspirants both from Ondo north and Ondo south of Ondo state to drop Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) as his anointed candidates and desist from picking any other candidate from Ondo central senatorial district to fly the party’s flag in November 2016 governorship election. The conspiracy and gang up is so weighty to the extent that the two senatorial districts (Ondo north and Ondo south) had resolved to team up together and adopt a candidate through the factional leadership of the party, Ali modu sheriff or in the alternative, use another political platform to ensure that either the north or the south of Ondo State produces the next governor of the state against the interest of gov Mimiko to retain the governorship ticket at the Centre when Mimiko who will be completing his 8 years in office as governor of Ondo State is also from the central senatorial district.

As night passes away and time dissolves, I have decided to watch with keen interest the season film while sitting on top of the IROKO tree without any distraction.
