Its a nice car.The engine does not tolerate abuse so you need a specialist to handle it all times and not those kazeems on the street

It is not as bad as described ed but it has some inherent problems with valve covers leaking and many owners don't perform tune up on it because it's a little move involved/ expensive labor compared to most V6 engines.
In take manifold will have to be removed for the above tasks

Most guys here don't kn montero is different from montero sport. Montero is the bigger version. I heard that car's maintenance is a herculean task.

The reason why you dont see much montero on the road is because. production was discontinued in the US in favour of the mitsubishi. outlander

I think the Mitsubishi Endeavor replaced it in 2004.
Remember it is a Japanese brand too just like Subaru just not as popular

I have not even seen a Montero Limited in a while

Also called Pajero in some markets and the limited called Shogun

I use a montero/pajero 2005 model (not montero sport) for close to 1 year.I will tell you from my personal experience.It is a very good car,transmission is very smooth however i will tell you wnat to avoid when you own a Mitsubishi

Wiring: Yes,the wiring and electrical components troubleshooting should only be handled by a trained and experienced technician.One wrong move and your ECU (brainbox) will be burnt

Engine: The engine is good,however it does not tolerate overheating,late servicing or your engine running out of gas.So make sure you check the water in your radiator regularly,service on time and ensure that your tank never runs out of gas

Suspension: The suspension is very good.Do not expect to change it often like toyota and others

Fuel Economy: Driving without AC gives you more mileage just like with any other regular car

Spare Parts: The spare parts are cheap and readily available
