About 40% of the world use the internet
today but most people don’t know what
the internet is. We might have also heard
of intranet but we might not know what
it is. I was actually ignorant of this
because i usually took internet and
intranet for the same thing


INTERNET
The internet is a worldwide series of
interconnected computer which is
publicly accessible and transmits data
throught packet switching using internet
protocol(IP). It usually consists of millions
of networks including business, personal,
goverment, academic, religious, media
which are mostly domestic. Together
these networks carry out various services
like online chat, email, file transfer, they
also give various informations and use
other components of the world wide
web.


INTRANET
According to yahoo, The intranet is a
private computer network that uses
internet protocols(IP), network
connectivity to securely share part of an
organizations information or operations
with its employees


THE DIFFERENCE
internet is usually open to the public to
share general information, the traffic is
unlimited
intranet on the other hand is only
accessible to the members of an
organisation or to the employees of a
company which allows the company to
share private information only to its
member.
Traffic is limited


NOTE: an intranet may be accessible from
the internet but it is usually password
protected and is open to authorised users
only


EXTRA STUFF



Extranet:
Extranet is an intranet network that is
partially accessible to outsiders but these
outsiders must be authorised.
Intranet is usually monitored by a
a firewall. The firewall helps to control the
access between intranet and internet
users between this it permits access to
authorised ousider and this access
depends on acess levels which are usually
a set of usernames and passwords
