HOW THE APOSTLES DIED.
1. Matthew Suffered martyrdom in Ethiopia, Killed by a sword wound.
2. Mark Died in Alexandria, Egypt , after being dragged by Horses through the streets until he was dead.
3. Luke Was hanged in Greece as a result of his tremendous Preaching to the lost.
4. John Faced martyrdom when he was boiled in huge Basin of boiling oil during a wave of persecution In Rome. However, he was miraculously delivered From death. John was then sentenced to the mines on the prison Island of Patmos. He wrote his prophetic Book of Revelation on Patmos . The apostle John was later freed and returned to serve As Bishop of Edessa in modern Turkey . He died as an old man, the only apostle to die peacefully
5. Peter He was crucified upside down on an x-shaped cross. According to church tradition it was because he told his tormentors that he felt unworthy to die In the same way that Jesus Christ had died.
6. James The leader of the church in Jerusalem , was thrown over a hundred feet down from the southeast pinnacle of the Temple when he refused to deny his faith in Christ. When they discovered that he survived the fall, his enemies beat James to death with a fuller's club. * This was the same pinnacle where Satan had taken Jesus during the Temptation.
7. James the Son of Zebedee, was a fisherman by trade when Jesus Called him to a lifetime of ministry. As a strong leader of the church, James was beheaded at Jerusalem. The Roman officer who guarded James watched amazed as James defended his faith at his trial. Later, the officer Walked beside James to the place of execution. Overcome by conviction, he declared his new faith to the judge and Knelt beside James to accept beheading as a Christian.
8. Bartholomew Also known as Nathaniel Was a missionary to Asia. He witnessed for our Lord in present day Turkey. Bartholomew was martyred for his preaching in Armenia where he was flayed to death by a whip.
9. Andrew Was crucified on an x-shaped cross in Patras, Greece. After being whipped severely by seven soldiers they tied his body to the cross with cords to prolong his agony. His followers reported that, when he was led toward the cross, Andrew saluted it in these words: 'I have long desired and expected this happy hour. The cross has been consecrated by the body of Christ hanging on it.' He continued to preach to his tormentors For two days until he expired.
10. Thomas Was stabbed with a spear in India during one of his missionary trips to establish the church in the Sub-continent.
11. Jude Was killed with arrows when he refused to deny his faith in Christ.
12. Matthias The apostle chosen to replace the traitor Judas Iscariot, was stoned and then beheaded.
13. Paul Was tortured and then beheaded by the evil Emperor Nero at Rome in A.D. 67. Paul endured a lengthy imprisonment, which allowed him to write his many epistles to the churches he had formed throughout the Roman Empire. These letters, which taught many of the foundational Doctrines of Christianity, form a large portion of the New Testament. Perhaps this is a reminder to us that our sufferings here are indeed minor compared to the intense persecution and cold cruelty faced by the apostles and disciples during their times For the sake of the Faith. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: But he that endureth to the end shall be saved. Pass on to encourage other Christians Why Do we feel sleepy in Prayer, But stay awake through a 3 hour movie? Why are we so bored when we look at the HOLY BOOK, But find it easy to read other books? Why is it so easy to ignore a msg about God, Yet we forward the nasty ones? Why are Prayers getting smaller, But bars and clubs are expanding Why is it so easy to worship a celebrity, But very difficult to engage with God?
Let every Christian wake up and return to the first

If an atheist leaves the world in these ways, theists would be quick to point out that his lack of belief in a god caused it

Excellent one op.

It is notable that the first two went to Africa thus making it a Lie that it was the Europeans that brought the Gospel to Africa!

Their "Gospel" only Got to Ethopia,Eygpt and other North African Countries.... Which were already well documented in the bible.

The "Good News" was forced on brought to Africans by your beloved Europeans......

It wasnt forced!

Christianity first arrived in North Africa, in the 1st or early 2nd century AD. The Christian communities in North Africa were among the earliest in the world. Legend has it that Christianity was brought from Jerusalem to Alexandria on the Egyptian coast by Mark, one of the four evangelists, in 60 AD. This was around the same time or possibly before Christianity spread to Northern Europe.

In the 7th century Christianity retreated under the advance of Islam

the devil was the one behind those that fought both Jesus and the disciples with the goal that: ... it spread no further among the people Acts 4:17, used the pharisees and the sadduccees and elders of Judaism.

When it became clear that the sanhedrin and religious judaists could only fight the Truth on their soil, and that much of the heathen were getting converted, the devil rallied his forces to establish a movement similar to the judaists to hinder the spread of the Truth in Africa and other lands.

So, the Europeans who themselves were beneficiaries of the Gospel took it upon themselves to penetrate these places that were hindered initially.

Here, we differentiate between an European who came to explore and exploit, and one who came to preach the Gospel.

It is illogical to say they were all missionaries just because they were white men.

Don't get me wrong, I know the difference between Missionaries and colonials.

Some missionaries actually cared for the populace they were adressing.

But in many places, religion was used to tear up whole communities apart.

Due to the connection of christianity and Europeans, the almost universal belief of white Jesus spread rapidily amongst the black people and used the final and most deciding form of slavery : Psychological enslavement

In most places, those who defied the christian religion were dealt with brutally, Whole communities were uprooted due to their defiance to Christianity.

I need not remind you; you know that yourself.

Like I've said before, North Africa has made contact with the rest of the world Long before the advent of christianity itself.

Saying Missionaries spread the good news to Africa proper, as in BLACK AFRICA; is a joke.

This claim of yours would have teeth if they had said Jesus was an European.

Can we have samples of missionaries (not religious colonialists) that did so?

So, who did the spreading?

In painting worldwide; the traditional picture of jesus is that of an european. Stories relating to Jesus Birth is set in an European Setting.

They didn't need to call Jesus a European. Africans just saw white people teaching about a savior and assumed he was white. Go out and ask the average Christian about Jesus skin Color and his response will be........

Like I said, there is a difference between Missionaries and colonialists.
Colonialists conquered the land. Missionaries ensured it stayed conquered.

Sure, they probably thought they were doing good......and actually might have been. But the repercussions still echo in Africa 60 years after Independence
So, who did the spreading?

By Missionaries there, I meant The church formed after christ's death.

Not the europeans.

.....Indeed? Then why, pray tell, is so much money spent on the construction of superdomes so as to milk more money from member allow people to worship God?

Why is so much emphasis placed on going to a particular church if the people make up the church. After all, we're all "one fold lipsrsealed"

We don't milk money..I have neither placed any emphasis on my church because I'm conscious of the fact that the race I run is highly personal.
But still neccessary to go to church, because in church, you get inspired and encouraged by the sermons, testimonies and songs/hymn rendered. + the comfort u feel when u are in d midst of the brethren, u feel strenghten!..and so many more are the reasons why we build church buildings to hold meetings!
