7 Blunders of Nigeria Sports

This is not in any way to radicles our nation but a wake up call to do things right in the sports sector.

1 Appointing Mikel Obi as the as captain of team Nigeria to the Olympics.:

When we have the likes of Segun Toriola and others like Blessing Okagbare with more olympic experience than Mikel. The man Toriola Is Africa’s most successful table tennis player of all-time, Nigeria’s Segun Toriola will be competing in his seventh Olympics at Rio 2016, the 41-year-old having appeared at every Games since Barcelona 1992.

2. Appointing Joseph Yobo NPFL ambassador
How can you appoint a player who has never played in the Nigerian league before as its ambassador. When we have the likes of Victor Ezeji who has played 20 straight season in the NPFL., and retired

I believe Segun Toriola should have lead the Nigerian Olympic team. Considering his position in his chosen career and the record of the highest nigerian appearance in the Summer Olympics.

Appointing Mikel Obi is a blunder. What leadership experience has Mikel Obi?
After John Terry in the Chelsea squad, he is the oldest. Yet, no manager ever thinks of making him the club captain in the absence of JT.
The times he had lead the national football team, no progress made.

At the moment, talking about the Commonwealth nations, Segun Toriola is the best in tennis game where there are Indians.
Blessing Okagbare is also good.

4. Nigeria’s athletes to the Olympics begging for funds on social media.
we had four year to plan for an Olympic why wait for the last minute. and let the arthlets source their own funds when they should be in camp.
or are the just knowing that Olympics is by the corner or it is not included in this years buget? undecided

I don't really see a blunder in this. Joseph Yobo had shown interest in playing for one of the clubs in NPFL before the appointment.
He has travelled to play in about four top flight leagues(Belgium, France, England and Turkey) acquiring experience that can be impacted to our local players for the development.
To the outside world, our leaque will have a player of high profile and relatively known.

5 the President receiving a flag from FIFA president without having a Nigeria flag to exchange with him.

In football one way of exchanging greeting is the exchange of flags.

The Sports Minister or NFF president should have known this and let the president do same.
but Bubu was wondering what is this.

No 1 so on appoint.
Why appoint Mikel when Toriola is going to the party? undecided

6. NFF announcing they have appointed a new super eagles coach LE GUEN only to come out few hours later to give another statement when the man openly rejected the offer that was never was.

the question is why not cross your ts and dot your eyes before going public

not really a blunder.

Exchange of flags between teams or different members and associations, not between a nation and FIFA.

Nigerian flag is embedded in FIFA's flag since Nigeria is among the FIFA nations, no need to exchange our flag with him. Our President receiving the flag is a sign of alliance and affiliation.

7. Super eagles and U20 kicked out of AFCON for next year respectively
The case of Super Eagles not going to AFCON back to back I don’t think has ever happened. The NFF should be blamed seriously. I use to see AFCON as our birthright hmm. I hope the worse bluder under current NFF will not happen…missing out of 2018 world cup.
Already the U20 has lost out. From both AFCON and next u20 World cup

Olympic experience is very important
when you have a man who has been there seven times (plus this one) you cant ignore him for a rookie in terms of Olympics.
sorry thou this is not about EPL or football only.

hmm nice resume (Belgium, France, England and Turkey)

but hay in that case they should have more than one

for people like Victor Ezeji 20 straight season. that's to tell some other player look you can play HERE and still have a decent like like the North Africans in Egypt and Tunisia
we also have the like of Jude Aneke, etc

what of Amokachi played for Ranchers Bees before going abroud. and came back to coach here hur

in that case FIFA president shouldn't have bothered to give him FIFA flag because it has Nigeria flag imbedded.

that why I said its a blunder cos

"when you have a man who has been there seven times (plus this one) you cant ignore him for a rookie in terms of Olympics."

I am 21 and would never make this Blunders except Appointment of Joseph Yobo which isn't really big of a deal.

And it's weird to exchange flags between an Organization and Country...It doesn't work hand in hand OP maybe the NFA and FIFA would be the right protocol

This makes you wonder if these clowns didn't get there by Connections rather than Brains
