Hope you all remember this picture, saw it while surfing through my Archives.
A Nigerian with the golden boot. A Ghananian with the silver booth... And Tony Kroos a German with the bronze boot...

But 9 years later, the player with the bronze bronze boot is worth more than 50 million pounds. But the GOLDEN and silver boot winners are nowhere to the found.

The question is. What's happening to Africa?

From the above story, any passionate reader will feel bad, feel sorry and begin to ask questions!

Is it lack of support?
Is it mindset?
Why are some growing and others seem to fade out in life?
I would like you to contribute your own understanding in reaction to this unfortunate story.
I want to look at it first of all from the support angle!
I believe the Africans could not grow better because of lack of support.
I will look at support from different angles. Environmental support, Government support, Family support, and probably personal motivation and dream.

ENVIRONMENTAL SUPPORT.
The African environment is limiting in all aspects especially in sports development. No encouragement for up coming stars. There are no sporting facilities, no clubs that can groom a star and bring out the best in them, without long leg, bribery, trbal considerations or political affiliations. even when a child decides to move on despite all odds, he may have cultural or traditional inhibition, which only exists in Africa. Poverty is another problem. He may not have enough financial backup to pursue his dream.
The African environment is generally hostile to development of garments and gifts in the individual. These are exactly opposite in the western world where everything is provided.F

GOVERNMENT SUPPORT
In other clime, when a garment is discovered, the government, corporate bodies and organizations take it upon themselves to nurture, develop this garment to full potential. In Africa, no one cares! There are no corporate bodies interested in long term project let alone talent development. The government goes to use people that have suffered to train themselves and drops them after using them, so no commitment or patriotism is expected. Support is lacking from all aspects of government being federal, states or even the local level.

FAMILY SUPPORT
The African family as a result of poverty only wants present results and achievements. Therefore the family does not support investment in the future of the talent!
Imagine when these guys worn the golden and the silver boots, whatever was paid to them would have been used to settle family financial needs. No one thought of training and retraining to get the best.
A little achievement and the African is satisfied that he has gotten it!

DREAM/PERSONAL MOTIVATION
Personal Motivation and dream is another hindrance to development. When a person has no dream he cannot be motivated. I am sure that the African players only play to make money and not to make a name or create a legacy for themselves.
When you don't have a goal, there is no one you are emulating to be like, its likely you are not going to go far. This is where the mindset of a person comes into play. It is not about pigmentation, it is all about mindset, it is all about dream.
When you have a good mindset and a dream, support will come if you tarry long. Where there is a will, there is always a way.
This does not only happen in football but on all grounds.
Above all, there need to be support from the general public so that those who have garments but have no strong and daring mind can leverage on existing support system and grow!

What do you think?
