Hello Saints in the house.
Please i want to clarify issues.
Pls can someone who is BORN AGAIN but due to carelessness and not WATCHING as the Lord Commanded suddenly fell into sin and a besetting sin after God had given him the promises of blessings and answers to what he prayed for (TAKE NOTE : THE PROMISES ISN'T FULFILLED YET BUT STILL ON ITS WAY AS THE SAINTS KEEPS HOPING WITH FAITH)
So while still anticipating for these promises (promises like job, admission, answers to request etc).
Ya so while still hoping on these promises, he suddenly fell into a grievious sin and confessed and had the assurance that he was forgiven according to (john 1 v 9) and after then he fell again into sin and remorsefully going back to God again for cleansing again he feels doubtful and thinks God's promises wouldn't come by again because of his sin according to (ISAIAH 59 v 1-2).
Will the promises still be fulfilled or will it be witheld and cancelled due to the sins he committed?
Answers from Strict Holy living Saints.
Pls if youre a Christian that is also believing on free grace of one save always save because God is a God of love and not a God of wrath and you can can commit sin and always be covered by grace cos none is perfect. Pls if you are such, DON'T COMMENT ON THIS THREAD PLS.

Blessed day of the Lord. I believe your pastor will be in a better position to address your questions since I may not be privy to the details of your testing/temptation or specific sins committed.

Generally speaking, I will like to address the verse you referred to when repenting.

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).

When John stated that if we confess our sins he didn't mean to confess one's sins in general, he wanted us to identify them specifically and then come to an agreement with God as to their specific sinful character before we then change our minds about them and then viewing those sins as God sees them. On God's part Jesus Christ's blood has already been shed to wash them and as He has promised, He is always faithful to His Word and thus provides forgiveness and perfect justice.

Confession on our part must not be a formula that we employ whenever we commit sin and then think all is well. When our Lord forgives He at the same time expects to cleanse us from all unrighteousness and not just from the penalty of unrighteousness. He is ready to purify us when we believe Him.

So you can see that when we change our mindset and see that God is always faithful and just to forgive and is also willing to help us fulfil our part if when we allow Him. Don't allow the devil to rob you of your blessings. Abraham believed God and it was counted for righteousness even when he did self management when the promise of a son was yet to come God still fulfilled His part while He told Abram to walk before Him and be perfect (Gen.17:1). Meditate on David's Psalm 51 and see why he is said to be a man after God's heart and Abraham, a friend of God.

Here's an article/devotional that addresses the OP

TEXT: HEBREWS 12:1-4

"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us" (Hebrew 12:1).

What is a besetting sin? It is a sin that besieges; one that is unyielding, yoked to its host as it were. In sports, like skating and biking, blocking and boxing are strategies to control and stymie the efforts of an opponent. A besetting sin hems you in. It blocks you. It trips you up to fall. The sin that besets you does not just slow you down - it blocks and even stops your progress.

The clouds of witnesses here are true heroes of faith who died for their testimony of Jesus. Though these witnesses paid the ultimate price for their faith, they are still alive and are actively cheering the believers on till we finish our race. From the text, a race has been "set before us." God wants us to lay aside every besetting sin and run with patience, while looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

Certainly, all sin is bad for the Christian pilgrim; but for most of us, there is a sin that is particularly besetting…it is the sin that we struggle with all the time. It may be an addiction or obsession, a habit, an attitude, a bias, a critical spirit, a bad temper, selfishness, gossip, bitterness, being untruthful, impatience, an envious spirit, Internet porn, self-righteousness, and the list goes on and on.

We must consciously shake off hindrances that hold us back from completing the race that is set before us. If we fail to do this, the weight of besetting sin can be a hindrance to our eventual coronation.

GOD BLESS OLAADEGBU.
Actually i made use of the hour of grace after reading your comment and cried back to God in tears and on my knees at Calvary begging for Mercy. Though it was hard to hear from Him but after on i receive assurance of forgiveness of sins and also cleansing (zechariah 13 vs 1) and justification.
Now i can rightfully claimed back God's promises and Continual Abiding in Him to ensure continuity of Power Over sin (1 John 3v6)
BUT your thoughts for the day got me wondering. Can you please elucidate more on it?

It simply means that we must 'consciously shake off hindrances that hold us back from completing the race that is set before us. If we fail to do this, the weight of besetting sin can be a hindrance to our eventual coronation'.

Imagine the Formula 1 racer, Lewis Hamilton attaching luggage to his car or Hussain Bolt, competing in a 100 metre race when he is dressed in a 3 piece suit. Remain blessed and rapturable. wink
