Governor of Imo state Rochas Okorocha said this statement today while briefing journalists on the state of affairs in Imo. He said the reduction of work days would enable workers to attend to other activities that would generate money to augment their monthly salaries to take care of their families.

According to the governor:
“I encourage Imo workers to find additional things to do to support their families because of the economic situation we are facing in Nigeria. We are considering reducing the working days from five to three in Imo, so that workers will use the rest of the days to work and support their families.”

What really stops all this state with oil forming buying oil blocks, then look for indigenous or foreign companies to partner for the extraction this will surely raise the IGR of the states
This should have been done like 25 years ago but we have people who prefer to share Abuja money
What stops imo from improving our state owned poultry farm... Will it kill roaches if we produce 1 million eggs per day?? The feed should be from corns farmed in imo
20,000 broilers processed won't also be bad, the project don't have to be profitable but the employment and money circulation would make our hospitality industry in imo more viable

The main problem in Africa is the smart ones are not petrotic enough to join politics they prefer business and the dumb ones enter politics and mess things up

He just stylishly took a jab at workers that they are actually unproductive. What he is trying to say is that the State can function without workers because of Nigerian corrupt system. Parastatals are supposed to earn money enough for their salaries but in Nigeria civil servants don't even go to work but expect monthly pay. Some of my friends have never spent a week in their village but receive monthly salary as LGA workers.

I think this is okay...

If you can't pay them, let them augment themselves...

One of the best ideas from okoroahusa...

Two(2) working days are sufficient in most states, & especially in those LGAs where workers show up only on pay days. This is more of a blessing.
