The current peace talks between the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, and the Federal Government aimed at ending the militancy in the Niger Delta region have achieved far-reaching compromises

The common ground so far attained in the dialogue, taking place through oil companies and security agencies, includes the release of former militant leader, Henry Okah, in prison in South Africa and Charles Okah, held in Nigeria. It was also agreed that the ex-MEND commander, Government Ekpemupolo, akMEND, FG reach compromise to end militancy; Okah brothers, Kanu may be freed

The current peace talks between the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, and the Federal Government aimed at ending the militancy in the Niger Delta region have achieved far-reaching compromises. The common ground so far attained in the dialogue, taking place through oil companies and security agencies, includes the release of former militant leader, Henry Okah, in prison in South Africa and Charles Okah, held in Nigeria.

It was also agreed that the ex-MEND commander, Government Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo, will not be arrested or intimidated by government if he shows up as a delegate on MEND Aaron Team 2, while the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, and those detained with him would be released on condition that they renounce the agitation for the Republic of Biafra.

In a statement issued on Saturday by its spokesperson, Jomo Gbomo, MEND announced other breakthroughs in the discussions that it said will soon end the agitations in the South-South and South-East regions of the country.

Will this agreement end the hunger in the land or is another avenue for this govt to continue their looting without any confrontation
