Africa Youth Awards, the continent’s biggest honour for young achievers with annual participation from over 140 countries has announced its inaugural list of 100 Most Influential Young Africans.

The list which has representation from 27 African countries has a gender equity of 62 men and 38 women with the youngest being 14, considering the age limit of 40.

Selecting 10 of the most influential across 10 distinct categories, the number 100 represents the force of young people who are creating change and making sure it translates into making the lives of other people better.

The list which was compiled in consultation with a jury made up of young Africans based across the globe after weeks of public nomination represents hope for the continent and exhibits the potentials Africa has to become a global phenomenon.

On social media 87% of these young Africans are on Facebook with a combined following of 18,317,458 whiles 86% have 16,203,116 followers on twitter. (Data compiled on 15th July, 2016).

Prince Akpah, President of the organisation, reiterated the need for the continent to be inspired by its own success stories and hope the list will provide a great reference of motivation for most young people to take a step in creating a great future for themselves and Africa.

Partners for the ranking included Avance Media, My Naija Naira, Dream Ambassadors Foundation GH, Global Skills Exchange, Project Know Thy Self International, ACME Consult, Afro Lynk, with the support of various Media Organisations across the continent.

Zuriel Oduwole Named Hollywood's Youngest Producer/Director

Two months ago, the worlds youngest presidential interviewer [who has met and interviewed 19 world leaders] - Zuriel Oduwole turned 14. Her story has fascinated many around the world since her first documentary film at the age of 9 on the Ghana Revolution, when she met and interviewed Presidents Jerry Rawlings & John Kufuor. Having been featured on every global media house, including BBC, CNBC, Bloomberg TV, CNN and CCTV and profiled on major global magazines such as ELLE Canada, Forbes Africa and DESTINY Magazine, it is her film making ability that has caught Hollywood's attention.

Her first film that showed in Genesis Deluxe Cinema and Film House Cinema in November 2012 made her the youngest person in the world to show their self produced work in a commercial cinema, before it screened in Ghana, South Africa, the United kingdom, and Tokyo - Japan.

Born in Los Angeles to a Nigerian father and Mauritian mother, she has now been described as the most powerful teen producer in Hollywood. Recently, she was hired by Procter & Gamble to produce a short documentary as part of their successful #LikeAGirl campaign. A few months later, she directed a TV commercial for GAP USA as part of their back to school campaign, in partnership with Ellen DeGeneres ED clothing line. She is changing the perception of teens and young producers, in Hollywood.

Here is her work for P&G VIDEO: www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBxG08yr4uI

Zuriel is a shinning example of Nigerians and Africans are indeed, making their mark and changing slowly Hollywood. cheesy cheesy
