Let's Build 2016 - By Microsoft Let's build 2016 is an annual non-teleconferencing event initiated by Microsoft which hosted quite a number of developers across the United State and the world at large. ![]() The major objective for conducting this program by Microsoft (a software tech giant) is to showcase to the world the amazing and unrestricted power of modern technology. Also in the course of the event, Microsoft promised the emergence of enormous amount of intelligent powerful gadgets which is a major theme in this concise and abridged article. As we all know that Microsoft in particular is a Software company that developer software for various electronic devices. They always build some hardware part in amalgamation with top companies that specifies in the creation of electronic hardware components. Microsoft really has vast ambition for software which was altogether laid out at the build conference. In this year 2016, Microsoft have practically demonstrated this by presenting to people; the developer first and the rest of the world, the deployment of artificial intelligence and software agents in electronic devices. This article is not putting into definition and explanation what a software is, what artificial intelligence is and what a software agent is but I will briefly provide their meaning in the next paragraph. Software: Based on layman's definition, software are basically program. Program but simply consist of clearly stated and logically defined sequence of instructions projected into the computer system to emit an eminent accomplished results of a specified task. Artificial intelligence: Artificial intelligence are man-made scientifically designed intelligence embedded into a system, a machine and other complex system such as computer, smart phones, electronics e.t.c. It is the branch of computer science concerned with making computers behave like humans while it's few implementations includes gaming, expert system, natural language & voice recognition, neural networks and robotics. However, this to professionals in the field may still be a layman's definition while Wikipedia (world leading online encyclopedia) made expanse in the definition by clearly stating that: " Artificial intelligence ( AI) is intelligence exhibited by machines . In computer science , an ideal "intelligent" machine is a flexible rational agent that perceives its environment and takes actions that maximize its chance of success at some goal. Colloquially, the term "artificial intelligence" is applied when a machine mimics "cognitive" functions that humans associate with other human minds, such as "learning" and "problem solving". " Software agents: I will not like to discuss this now but later in the post because it has to be implicitly discussed. Oh! Sorry for deviating a little bit. Let's go back to the theme of the thread "Let's Build 2016 By Microsoft" and fully unveil the hidden technological products as we explore them sequentially. 2 Likes |

Microsoft Hololens Microsoft’s HoloLens, the virtual and augmented reality headset that Microsoft announced earlier this year, is to be released in the new year. The first HoloLens app shown on stage was Galaxy Explorer, which seemed to be holograms of planets and galaxies you can manipulate with gestures. Microsoft is releasing both the app and the source code today, giving HoloLens developers something they can study and build from. And NASA showed off a HoloLens called OnSight and Destination Mars, which lets you view the red planet through the perspective of the agency’s scientists. Some of the features available in it include: 1. The failure of Google Glass probably isn’t relevant The hype surrounding Google Glass was so great that, let’s be serious, it was going to be hard for any thing to live up to it. Being a bit later to the scene means that, on one hand, HoloLens can meet with more realistic expectations. But there are other differences. Google Glass was meant to be worn out in the world, where it offered little more than what was available on your smart phone but with an ultimately distracting interface. 2. HoloLens will work with all the softwares Being a Microsoft product means that HoloLens will easily incorporate all the Windows 10 applications that make your world go round. This is a big deal.

Windows Ink Half the problem with styluses on computers is the lack of software that supports them. In the Anniversary Update, Windows 10 will get more support for pen tools. Microsoft’s new Ink Workspace will let you create sketches, write sticky notes, annotate screenshots and find pen- enabled apps. Microsoft is also offering new APIs for developers to add pen-related features to their apps. One of the most interesting is a virtual ruler that users can rotate and move around freely to make drawing on-screen easier, and some auto-alignment and adjustment tools to make everything from highlighting text to drawing charts fall into place neatly and tidily. Any lines drawn along the edge of the ruler will be kept perfectly straight. Microsoft has already added support for this tool to several apps including Office, but developers can add it to their own apps with just a couple of lines of code. This should make stylus-friendly apps much easier to come by.

Cortana "The intelligent software agent" In the newest Windows 10 update, you’ll be able to use Cortana right from the login screen without logging in (minus the personalisation, of course). Cortana is also getting smarter, integrating everything it knows about you across all of Microsoft’s products. Cortana will more intelligently understand time, for example. She can identify the PowerPoint you were working on last night, or the toy store you visited last year, and suggest calendar appointments based on emails and texts you receive. Cortana can also work with third party apps more deeply — developers can set up actions that do things with their app.

Batch Integration Users of Unix-style operating systems like Linux and OS X are probably familiar with the Bash shell — it rules your command-line life. Now, Microsoft has partnered with Canonical — the company that maintains Ubuntu — to bring the Bash shell to Windows. For developers, tweakers and people who use multiple platforms, this is huge. Now, you can use the same commands that you’re familiar with on OS X and Linux distros inside Windows, and that includes everything from file management to app development and installation. This also opens up fans of the command line to a whole host of new tricks that aren’t available in the DOS-style command line. Microsoft points out that this isn’t an emulator or virtualised app, but Bash is running natively directly in Windows.

Universal Windows 10 Apps We knew that Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter were committed to "Universal Windows Platform Apps," but we got a news that more are coming: Starbucks is the big one. But you can also expect Uber, Vine, Bank of America, WWE, and a ton of games. Microsoft showed off a few graphical flourishes developers can now add to Windows apps, including a motion blur and highlight effect you can activate with trackpad gestures. They also dove into some code that lets developers easily add Ink abilities into their apps. A virtual ruler was involved. Microsoft also showed off an "Electronic Flight Bag," which is basically a Surface tablet that pilots can use to track all the information they need to fly. Boeing is going all in with it. But a bigger deal is that Microsoft is providing a desktop tool to developers so they can convert their current Windows apps to the new universal platform. Microsoft says it can work on 16 million current apps.
