The Swedes should not be underated, Mikel should revert to his position in front of defense. We need to beat Sweden and hope Japan beats Colombia.

That our first choice goalkeeper is useless, they should try the second Goalkeeper.

I hope siasia has a tactical plan to contain d Swedish national team, because just by looking at d Sweden national team dey are a strong and physical side dat has a lot of emphasis on d defence with a letahal attack also, we should avoid silly mistakes at d back. siasia shld pls find a lasting solution to dat back four it reality looks porous, we all say hw dey shipped in 6 goals against Denmark and now we re meeting a country dat beat dem. I just hope d arrival of umar aminu would mk siasia play Mikel in his original defensive midfield position because we need someone who would reali protect dat loose backline. sadiq umar is doing a beautiful job, dat match against Japan was d first timeinsaw him play even though HV heard a lot abt d youngstar, his holdup play is a delight to watch. All In all I wish d dream team success tommorrow

sia1 should talk to the keeper Emmanuel Daniel if he is going to man the post, he appears kind of jittery in the 1st match, i would ve love to see daniel akpeyi keep instead, and i expect mikel to be drafted back to his defensive midfield role to pair with azubuike. etebo should retain his position as supporting striker to sadiq umar, aminu umar should be brought in to start in the attacking midfield role, shehu abdullahi should be cautioned, about 3 of the japs goals came from his full right back wing. amuziem is doing well at the left back position same with troost ekong in the central defence.
i really missed iheanacho, alex iwobi, isaac success, moses simon, musa mohammed, ndidi wilfred, not forgetting kenneth omeruo and balogun. in all i still believe we have a pretty strong team but it would ve been bloody if the aforementioned names were in the squad.
3-1 in favour of my beloved dream team. looking forward to the match. the land is green.

God bless Nigeria my fatherland. #bringbackthegold

According to goaloo data, there is a 0% chance that Sweden U23 and Nigeria U23 scores overall Over 2.5. In this game the chance that Sweden U23 wins is 33.2%, the chance for a draw is 27.3% and the chance for Nigeria U23 to win this game is 39.4%. undecided I b happy no matter who wins ..its gonna be an amazing match

The Swedes come into Rio 2016 as European champions at U-21 level, an indicator Nigeria will not be having a smooth ride. What can Siasia's side expext

Having come out on top in an attritional war against Asian champions Japan, Nigeria ’s attentions turn to European champions Sweden on Sunday night.

The Scandinavians qualified for Rio 2016 following a surprise triumph at the 2015 European U-21 Championship. It was a victory built more on grit and determination than anything else--they are more immovable object than irresistible force.

Having barely scraped through their group in second place, they proceeded to pound Nordic neighbours Denmark 4-1, before squeaking past Portugal on penalties in the final. Very Jekyll and Hyde, and they acquired a reputation for starting games slowly: witness, for example, how quickly Colombia set upon them in their group opener on Thursday.

The Swedes’ best placement at the football tournament of the Olympics came back in 1948, where a team of amateurs featuring AC Milan legend Gunnar Nordahl won 3-1 against Yugoslavia in the Wembley final to claim the gold medal. They also claimed bronze in the following edition in Helsinki.

Surprisingly, 2016 is only their second appearance in the competition since.

There has been a significant amount of turnover in the last year, and much of the team that qualified Sweden are not present in the squad this time. Players like John Guidetti and Victor Lindelof, for example, were a part of the senior squad at this summer’s European Championships in France.

It would however be a mistake to underestimate them; as stated earlier, the team was built primarily on resilience and strength of character, rather than oodles of flair.

Coach Hakan Ericson favours a 4-4-2 system, but with neither Guidetti nor Isaac Kiese Thelin upfront, it is 23-year-old Mikael Ishak (above) who now leads the line.

Captain and former Liverpool youth player Astrit Ajdarevic plays just off him and, at 26, is one of the overaged players within the squad. It will of course have come as a source of joy to the 56-year-old Ericson that both were on the scoresheet in the opening game against Colombia.

He must have been concerned though by the speed of their defensive transitions; Colombia were quick and decisive at turning defence to attack, and perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising that, being a team that prefers to break, Sweden are not accustomed to dictating terms.

If the opposition play directly upon winning the ball, Ericson’s men can be caught upfield: this looks like yet another game made for Sadiq Umar’s syrupy elusiveness and hold-up play.

There is also some imbalance to their central midfield: Basel’s Alexander Fransson shoulders much of the defensive burden, but can be overrun no-thanks to the more attack-minded Robin Quaison.

This is another area of the team that has undergone a complete change--the starting duo last year were the pair of Oscars: Lewicki and Hiljemark, both excellent at controlling the game. With so much space between the defence and midfield now, it is no wonder they give up a lot of shots.

They can be grateful to goalkeeper Andreas Linde, who looks a real talent with great agility and sharp reaction times off his line.

The pint-sized 21-year-old plays in the Eredivisie with FC Groningen, and is gifted technically; able to change pace and direction quickly thanks to a low centre of gravity. Usually stationed on the right, he is a handful for any left-back, and Nigeria’s Stanley Amuzie would do well to have his wits about him, having been shockingly sub-par in the opening game against Japan.

The alterations to the team have certainly made Sweden weaker than they were in qualifying for this tournament and, especially through the middle, they are significantly easier to play through.
