Progressive01: For all intents and purposes, Indonesia is an Islamic country. Yet, it's the Muslim hating Israelis from the Yeest that throng there in their hundreds seeking the same prosperity and progress they claim to be incompatible with Islam. Yet they complain they're being turned into firewood. The same way they claim the North is backward and intolerant yet they have an entire LGA dedicated to them in Kano where they earn their living, raise generations and die. It's no coincidence they're becoming endangered species in both locations. 8 Likes 1 Share |

WE ARE REALLY THE CAUSE OF OUR PROBLEMS. WHY SHOULD THE GOVERNMENT SPONSOR ANY RELIGIOUS EXCURSION? CHRISTIAN, MUSLIM OR TRADITION EXCURSIONS SHOULD BE EXPUNGED FROM OUR BUDGETS. AT THIS POINT IN TIME, WE HAVE MANY PRIORITIES IN NIGERIA AND REGIOUS EXCURSIONS SHOULDN'T BE ONE OF THEM. 11 MILLION DOLLARS WILL BUILD A WORLD CLASS SCHOOL, A WORLD CLASS HOSPITAL, A WORLD CLASS ROAD..... AND THE LIST GOES ON!!! GODDAMNIT!! 7 Likes |

It is wrong subsidizing dollars for all pilgrimages . . . end of . . . Religion is a personal matter and should not be funded by the public purse. How about atheists and traditional worshipers, are Christians and Muslims more Nigerian than they are? Kids in school get "tough luck", but some religious fellas don't? This is just another avenue for round-tripping, and corrupt/sharp practices. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

The truth is government should not participate in religious activities. There should be no subsidy to Christians or Muslims. If you want to go on pilgrimage so much pay for it. Where I in power in my acceptance speech that's the first thing I would cancel. No more religion in government. Do your stuff by yourself. Simple. |

This guy is fuckin g foolish.... Do you know how much dollar was a year ago? maybe 245-250..... and today dollar is $400...and some people are paying less than half of the Parallel price.... WTF are you saying? Is this even the right time for this? Instead of doing something that will make forex easier for manufacturers and SME, they are subsidizing dollar for Hajj that won't add to the economy..... I don't think the op even deal with anything FOREX, so he can't understand.... 7 Likes |

ify84: do you even understand what cbn is..??.. do you understand, imf, international monetary systems..... i bet you,one day,the nigerian goverment will have no choice than to close all parallel markets in nigeria.... the nigerian goverment can say anytime "okay,we give you 1naira for 1dollar".....they can do this!!!.....would you agree??..... |

I get what you mean OP. However, like I said on the other thread, government has no business subsidising religious tourism. Not especially in these austere times. I would have expected the president/CBN to make an example of the hajj such that no one else will scream blue murder when we don't have such subsidies for Christians next year. The Nigerian state needs get her priorities right! |

I think you did not read the article to end. Because he nailed it in the last paragraph, that gift should stop intervening in the issue of Pilgrim welfare completely. It should be a personal issue. Such as subsidizing for the Pilgrim. And as a Muslim I agree with him. iamblisz: |

For me, the OP missed the point. The outcry(maybe from my standpoint) is when our scarce forex is given to things that will not boost our falling economy, while economic items are allowed to suffer in the black market. Its not about xtian and muslim. 2 Likes |

The problem with most of you is that you are more interested in defending the image of the president than actually pushing for the survival of this country. There is no where in the world where the president is 100% loved. The kind of insults rendered to Bush and Obama by thier people is enough to shutdown the internet. That the president approved for Christains does not make this a wise decision and it is not compulsory that it must be continued given the fact our situation has gotten worse. There were people who criticised it then and are still doing it now. Anyway, as long you guys have decided to be partizan, it is expected that your thinking will be laced with sentiments and would remain shallow and that is why i don't take you guys serious. If you want to be taken serious, don't allign yourself to any of these our stupid parties or politicians. 6 Likes 1 Share |
