Obasanjo was appointed special envoy by United Nation to the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo after he left office. Yet we all know he failed us as a president.

During the Zimbabwean election, the same Obasanjo headed a delegation of African Union election observers. Yet we can all still remember his "do or die" speech prior to 2007 elections.


Personally, I don't understand what some people are celebrating about this Jonathan's appointment.

Father of modern democracy ( politics without rancor) in Africa.. Fire on; let's see any country that will allow president Cassandra to take any honourable post after his shameful four years..

President Buhari was recognised around the world after his 1983-1984 Presidency, leading UN Peace-building efforts in Kosovo, the Maldives, Iraq, Yemen, Rwanda and delivered powerful speeches at the UN in 2000, 2004 and 2008. It was his efforts that lead to the cessation of hostilities by the warring factions in Ivory Coast as well, 5 years ago.
