Lagos is probably the only city world bank or whomever can loan the amount of money required to host an olympics. Lagos is a bankable city and prominent one in AFRiCA. Monetary lagos is kinda RIPE smiley

In reality, None for now.
But in ideal terms The big cities in SA. and maybe,-though I think it would be stupid-, the big cities in Nigeria(Lag and maybe Abj) can host the Olympics. These two countries have the largest economies in Africa. The Olympics is the largest sporting event in the world, it would cost tens of billions of dollars, the largest Nigerian Budget ever is $30 billion. Assuming we get 7 years to prepare, do you think that the FG would be willing to spend more than 5% of its budget every year on a sporting event?

If we really want to host we'd have to borrow and it'll still strain our purse.

to be honest, nigeria cant think of it.

it requires infrastructure to host olympics, not just the sporting venues but transportation, power, olympic village, security and many more.

Nigeria does not have any infrastructure, stating from zero will cost hundred of billions which is not realistic.
to top that it requires a heep load of organisation, something Nigeria will score zero.
say a nigerian city to host, the corruption that will plague it will be unprecedented, the infrastructure will neither be complete or sup-par.

the good thing about olympics is that, when it is over the city enjoys the immerse development that it came with for generations, which is something nigeria needs.

the only city that can host in africa is J.bourg.
