Oyo Nlc,it Is Time For Follow-up Action. by yaromalaika: 12:35pm On Aug 08, 2016
Recently, the NLC Oyo State Chapter signed an agreement with Oyo State Government which culminated into the suspension of the seven weeks industrial strike embarked upon by the civil servant in the state to protest non payment of their salaries. In the agreement, the two parties consented that two months salaries(January & February 2016) out of outstanding seven months salaries be paid within two weeks of signing the agreement. As a matter of fact,January salaries had been paid to the workers.Today is 8th of august 2016,exactly two weeks of the signing of the agreement and February salaries had not been paid has agreed. However,a priviledged information from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation release by News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) last week Friday indicated that a net Figure of N4.13billion had just been credited to Oyo State Government account(After deduction of all encumbrances)as its own share of July Federal allocation.Since it is this July allocation(now received)that the government intends to use to offset the February salaries,The expectations of the State workers is for them to be receiving as from today,Salary payment alert. In fact they expect the officials of the state NLC to by now be at the Oyo State Government Secretariat to ginger the government to fulfill its own side of the agreement to the workers.NLC should not give room for people to believe the allegations levied against them by TUC that they compromised the interest of the workers in signing the agreement and this is the more reason why they(NLC)should stand on the neck of the government to kick-start payment of February salaries as agreed NOW.
