Low comprehension... NUC does routine accreditation exercise like an auditing process. Once a department is found wanting, it is delisted for the period covering the accreditation until the next accreditation exercise. A department can be delisted for an offense as small as admitting more students than the quota given to them by NUC. That does not mean that the department had never been accredited in the time past. Funny thing is that once there is evidence of compliance for the presumed offense even if it takes a month, NUC restores the accreditation. |

37 of the 143 Universities in Nigeria are running unaccredited courses. NUC should be proactive and endeavour to streamline courses taught at the numerous Universties in the country. |

obyrich:. Same here, my course is currently being offered by 5 unis, when I left Sch there 2 unis . Some ambitious Prof and Senior Lecturers in both unis started a Post graduate degree program but without a legal framework for it neither accreditation and they invited practicing professionals with the first degree to take the program especially those in govt services to boost their profile in the civil service. Some colleagues rushed to attend. I refused to waste my hard earned money because that's what they are after. These people who have not been to upgrade and update the quality of their current curriculum, equipment for clinical and teaching materials expects the likes of me to come and sit in their classes and take lectures like we did in undergraduate days and earn worthless degrees just to make them happy that they are offering advanced degrees. That's the current fraud our Unis are to into. The never-say-die attitude of the average Nigerian is the reason we thrive in any environment especially in diaspora. |

most people dont know how this things work...accreditation is done every four years. During NUC visit to my school I was one of those who were running round to make sure my course was accredited because my Hod told me that if any course is not accredited you wont be able to graduate and that the school wont be able to take fresh students which will still be a problem..thank God my course received full accreditation. most of the courses that are not on that list have not even received full accreditation as they will all be reviewed in the next two years by NUC except for those that have been fully accredited |
